Boma

We love to visit the AKL. SO even though we are staying somewhere else, we schedule a meal here. We've eaten at both Jiko & Boma. Boma is noisey, chaotic & crowded. I thought the buffet was like any other Disney buffet. They added a few funky veggies if you wanted to be adventurous, but you could eat all "normal" stuff if you wanted. However Jiko is VERY expensive.

We always arrive early so we can wander around the AKL and go out on the patio and watch the animals. We normally take the bus to the AK and then transfer to the AKL bus. We have also gone straight to the AKL from any of the other parks.

Leaving we always heading for our night park so we just catch the bus. (the bus to the EMH park is always full). However, if you are going back to CSR..... take a cab.

We have done early Char breakfast at the AK and backstage tours. Since we didn't trust the buses to get us there on time, we would take a cab to the AKL, and after some animal viewing on the patio, we'd catch the first bus to the AK from the Lodge.

well if you decide to ..have fun at Boma!!
some people like it some people don't..
so you might have to try it out and see for yourself
lol
good luck
let me know how it goes

I went to Boma in November and LOVED it. I thought the food was interesting and delicious. It was my first time at the AKL and seeing that alone was worth the trip. We stayed at the BWV and took a cab both ways. Can't remember the exact cost, but it was inexpensive and easy. It is worth a try.

We were at Boma last Sat. It was busy! You need to be efficient with your trips to the buffet. Get plates full of fruit, salads, meats, desserts and then share. The line to the meats was the longest. That said the food was good. The coffee was great. We enjoyed it. Afterward we walked around the resort, listened to the african story time, got pictures taken. It was a nice evening We thought the service was good. They even brought DH a special dessert for his birthday (free!).We drove there from Pop, so no advice on bus service. I think it is worth a try.:thumbsup2

We love Boma, but it's really a fun thing to experience AKL in general, so definitely try to go.

AKL has lots of places for animal viewing--it's not just for guests! :-)

As everyone has said, bus to AKL from any park. A cab back to CSR should be very easy and quite cheap--CSR is in the Animal Kingdom resort area and isn't far at all from AKL.

Have fun!

For those who liked BOMA for dinner, has anyone done the breakfast? How was it?

Thanks,
Dennis-

I stayed at AKL and ate at Boma during the beginning of August. We checked in the first day of value season, so Disney World was still very crowded with summer vacationers. Despite Boma being busy, my husband and I loved it. I catch myself thinking about it sometimes when I'm hungry. I'm a picky eater and tend to go for "kid friendly" items, but I found plenty to satisfy me at Boma. The service was fine, though at a buffet, I don't take that into consideration too much.

GREAT PLACE. They have 3 menus that rotate, so each day is a little different. Much of it is food you know, with different spices than you know. Loads of cool desserts.

The lodge is an attraction itself. The lobby is stunning, probably the best on property. They have a neat gift shop, plenty to look at, and the savannah for viewing. We always arrive at least 1 hour early. You can use night vision goggles to view the animals after dark. Just a great place.

I can't answer this based on my own experience, but I asked about Jiko and Boma in another thread. A few people commented about how good Boma breakfast is.

We are staying at Coronado also and eating at Boma one night. Boma is one place I always book for every trip. I think it is the only repeat this upcoming vacation other than Jiko. I highly recommend it!

We love Boma! The last time we went we got there early, checked out the resort and were able to see the storyteller outside the back doors. He was fun!

We did not like Boma at all. We won't go back. The food was too spicy for DH and the desserts were a real bummer. Neither DH or I eat coconut so we had these hard cookies that felt like they came from a package off the shelf of a local grocery store. Yuck.
