We are trying to meet some relatives for dinner next week and didn't know where to go. My cousin said they really enjoy Boma and suggested meeting there. I'm not super adventurous in food, will I be able to find something? Do they have a buffet for kids? Just wanted your opinion on this one.

Thanks

Eva

For dinner, I thought the food was just okay...especially for the hefty price you pay. I wouldn't go back for dinner...maybe try Ohana for dinner?

Breakfast is definitely a better time to try Boma. I vote it as the best breakfast on site.

I love Boma's. There is a great variety. So even if you aren't adventurous, you will find something to eat. My kids love to take me there just so I will get a pressed pot of coffee. Once I have one of those, I am putty in their hands.

Do they have a kids section on the buffet?

I found Boma just like any other Disney Buffet. Except for a few cool breads and several unique takes on veggies, it was not much different than anywhere else.

I mean, you could fill everyone up with chicken nuggets and mac cheese here if you wanted to.

I personally found the food here BORING. I was expecting adventure.... It's like expecting a safari and getting the Jungle Cruise.

You will do just fine, and there are plenty of kids' offerings. It's fun to stroll around the AKL, too.

yes, yes, YES!! We just got back last night, and this was one of our favorites.

and yes, there is a area just for kids. mac & cheese, pasta, pita breads etc..

I'm a "no" vote on Boma. Found the foods to be oddly spiced/over spiced OR they were totally bland & tasteless. Very busy too - couldn't even get close to some of the stations (like the area with the kids foods-incredibly long line for that when we were there.)

Found the place to be over crowded and way too noisy also - certainly too loud to have a visit with anyone. Could barely hear our waiter over the noise level.

After reading the rave reviews on here, we did an ADR there for last week. I was not impressed. I found little that I enjoyed eating, and they were serving sirloin, not prime rib. Other than the typical salad bar offerings, there were few vegetables. The few side dishes they had were bland and boring, IMO. And, the desserts were not good at all. The alcohol in the mousse and zebra domes overpowered the desserts, IMO.

Here are some pics of literally EVERYTHING they had the day I was there, except the chicken, oh, and a couple other things on the kids' buffet, which they DO have.

I think there were also a few more fruits. So there you have it. If this looks good, you'll love it! They do rotate their menu throughout the week, with different soups and such.

We loved it. Were were on the DxDP and my 12 year old who is very picky had ate his fair amount of mac and cheese that week as it was the main thing on most menus he could still get as an "adult". He ate so much I thought he might be ill. It was his favorite restaurant for food tastes the whole trip. We went for breakfast and dinner. Loved both.

This is my favorite restaurant at WDW and a must do every time I go. I have eaten at other African restaurants and found Boma very tame by comparison. I found their food had a lot in common with Lebanese cuisine. Even un-adventurous eaters have always walked away glad they came. There is enough "normal" food and a kids area for those who just can't bring themselves to eat couscous, humus, or anything else.

Another option would be Tusker House for lunch. The food is similar and being a lunch buffet it is cheaper. That may be a way to sample the cuisine without paying as much.

We tried it for the first time last week and were not impressed. I AM glad we tried it, though. DH is picky and probably enjoyed it less than I did, he definitely did not get his money's worth. Lines were long, waiter was not very good. I thought the desserts were great, loved the zebra domes.

Also, this was supposed to be our anniversary meal. This was the first time I have ever made ADR's and mentioned a special day to celebrate, but they never said anything about it. Our hostess knew, because I heard her say it to another CM when she had to switch our tables. I didn't know if I should have mentioned it again, so I just let it slide. I don't even know what they would do for anniversaries there.

I say give it a try, you might love it!!

I'm glad that I'm going there for breakfast... the food in the pictures does not look that good to me. I'm pretty boring when it comes to meals... I cook the same things (spaghetti, meatloaf, steak, chicken, pork chops, etc.). I don't really venture out much when it comes to eating out either (O'Charley's, Olive Garden, Applebee's, etc).

I wish the Disney website would post pictures of the different items available at the restaurants. That would have helped me decide our meals.

Boma is the number one rated buffet on disney property. It would be a great place to meet up.

This is a very polarizing restaurant I think. Some people find the food *too* adventurous and other not adventurous enough. Others, like me, find it just right. This is the one buffet restaurant where, as a vegetarian, I had a LOT of choices, so I love it. Most of my family (meat-eaters) love it as well. It's one we go back to year after year. The only one in my family who is less than thrilled with it is my younger brother, and he's super picky, and even he usually has a piece of cheese pizza or chicken nuggets or whatever is on the kids buffet.

We  Boma!!! There is something for everyone to enjoy. Everytime we dine there I always try something new and if I don't like it there is plenty of other things at the buffet to enjoy. This place is always a big hit with my kids 12,10 & 7.

There have been times when we are vacationing in FL but not at WDW and we still find ourselves making ADR at Boma just to get our fix.

My personal favorites are the prime rib, durban chicken and pasta salad. The dessert section is fantastic:thumbsup2

The price of the buffet is a bit steep and 2 of my kids are charged as adults because the are over 10:scared1: The way I look at it is, try it and if you don't like it, don't go back. I have tried many restaurants at WDW and there are a few that I will never go back to, but atleast I know:flower3:

Boma is delicious! When I first went there is was a little uneasy whether I would find things to eat that I would like or not. It was amazing! I even found new things I enjoyed while there. Boma offers the regular stuff--macaroni, fries, pasta, cookies, salad, fruit, etc. But they also offer the yummy food of Africa. You should be fine!;) And who knows, maybe you will find something new you like! Hope everything works out! :goodvibes

Sorry, I vote no, I am an adventerous eater and love to try new things, but I found the food at Boma's all similar and not very tasty at all. My entire family, myself and 3 kids left hungry. I guess it wasn't our thing, but everything looked similar or had the same thing. the prime rib I believe it was was horrible, so rare. The only thing we did enjoy was the desserts. Like I said my kids left hungry there are only so many chicken nuggets and fries you can eat when at WDW. This is just our experience.
