Just booked our flights for december trip and landing at 5:10pm on a Friday. Will I be able to walk up to Boma and get a table when we get to the resort?

They should be able to seat you, unless you are going at a very busy time of the year. If you want to be certain, when your ME bus pulls away from the airport or you are in your rental car, go on the app and check to see what availability they have for about 60-90 minutes from that point. If there are a lot of ADRs available, they should be able to seat you whenever you get there, if there are 1 or 2 ADRs available take one.

I would say no as this tends to be a very busy restaurant. If you are willing to get a late ADR, say after 8, you should be OK.

we are renting a car and staying at AKL so don't need to check in elsewhere. I was thinking of checking for an ADR when we land though luggage could be a glitch i guess. Also I could probably make it later if there is a delay at the airport? I can change ADRs from the app, right?

Yes, you can change ADR's from the app, but you run the risk of getting charged the no-show fee if you make the reservation, get delayed, then there's nothing later available when you check the app.

We will be eating at Boma tomorrow night. One more day til Disney for us. :yay:

We have been able to walk up most any night at Boma 'first' thing and get seated, but doubt that you could walk up at a prime time and get in unless you were willing to wait - then, it would be mostly 'luck'!!

Once you have your luggage and are settled with your rental car, I would check the app and see what's available then. As far as walking up, success will vary based in time of year and day. Sanaa is also very good if available and you can always eat at Mara as well.

I changed my plans to add one night at AKL and make friday the travel day rather than flying out very early saturday and still burning half the day with travel... So basically it is just a place to sleep (I have DVC and would rather use my points than spend cash on a hotel somewhere else).

I haven't been to boma for dinner in years and can't fit it in any other way, but I guess I could do Sanaa too (I assume you need to drive from Jambo where we are staying to Kidani? I haven't been there since they added Kidani). My kid would be all over the bread service, that's for sure, but it's a lot of bread for two people. Though I'd be doing it oop so I could maybe just get another app. But kiddo wanted to do Boma so maybe the thing to do is make an ADR for around 7pm, if we show up early check in early, if the plane is delayed before even taking off switch that ADR to something later if I can and also just be willing to eat the $20 fee... it's not that much in the scheme of things I guess.

With a flight landing at 5:10pm is a 7pm reservation reasonable assuming things go "typically"? Not super fast but no major delays either. I think I could probably be at the resort by 6:30 if things to fairly smoothly but would not count on that. Again, I will build into my expectations that I may have to eat the fee and we can do room service or mara or something. This trip is costing me so much I am not going to hinge everything on $20.

You can easily stroll from the lobby at Jambo to the lobby at Kidani in 6 or 7 minutes, or take the shuttle if you don't want to fool with moving your car and having to find a parking spot on both the trip over and the trip back. It would probably take at least 6-7 minutes to walk out to your car, drive over, find a parking spot, and walk to the lobby at Kidani anyway.

If the $20 no-show is of no concern, then book it.

We went to Boma for dinner without an ADR. They gave us one of those buzzy things (is that a pager?). I wanted to show my friend The Mara, just so she would know where it was. We got halfway there and the buzzer thingy buzzed because our table was ready. I think it was pretty early, though. This was March 2015. (For those who have not been to Jambo, this means we walked about 90 seconds before the buzzer went off.)
