I'd like to know what the favorite items are on their breakfast and dinner buffets.

We liked it so much, we went twice on our trip.

Our favorites for dinner were:

Salmon (both the mustard and banana leaf wrapped)
Strip Loin
Pork Shoulder....all the meats were delicious
Lamb Stew
Butternut Squash Soup
Couscous Marrakesh
Spinach and Corn Pudding
All the hummus flavors

Zebra Domes
Bread Pudding
Cassava Cake
Malva Amarula cake...can't remember the exact name.

Yum-O! :yay: It all sounds good. Amarula cakes sounds interesting. I love Amarula, which is a South African cream liquor, very much like Bailey's. I heard about the zebra domes and bread pudding is always a good bet. Thanks. Now the question is do a book a 2nd visit?

Oh! Where to begin:

I love cous-cous and Boma does it well, then there's Bobotie with lamb, onions & a crusty topping (they make a breakfast version ot it too). I also like the watermelon Rind Salad. There's a roasted chicken dish which I like, along with the med. rare roast beef, you can't go wrong! I love the different salad dressings they have, I personally love cilantro and they have a spicy cilantro vinaigrette that is delish! As a family we are "soup" people and Boma's tomato is good but the Ginget Carrot Soup is fantastic! I love beets and they have a salad w/ beets, cucumbers & curry. I can get American fare anywhere so I love the diverse African menu!

My Son 13, loves Boma as well. I enjoy some of the desserts, I'm really not a dessert person, but for the life of me I don't know why people makes such a fuss over Zebra Domes! I guess that's the good thing about buffets, there's something there for every one. The only draw back, they are pricy in my opinion!

I love everything on the breakfast buffet, soooo good! Dh is addicted to their banana bread.

The dinner was a huge bust for us, I dont like my dinner foods to taste sweet with cinnamon and vanilla. The falafel balls with mustard sauce were very good and the prime rib was excellent but I dont think they have that anymore. The bread pudding was to die for

Thanks for the feed-back (pun intended) As for being pricey, I've looked at the prices of the a la carte dining menus at WDW and it looks like I'd be paying the same if not more for an appetizer, entree, and dessert (no beverage) and there wouldn't be unlimited food and unlimited beverages, so comparitively speaking, it's not so bad. I'll do better in Las Vegas.

True, but will there be "Bobotie"? ;)

Boma is the only Disney buffet we do and enjoy, I've given up on the rest, except Tusker House Character breakfast buffet when we have young kids. DS(13) is done with character dining!

I'm not a soup person but I really dig the soups. Always something interesting. And I really like that cracker bread with them. Go figure.

For some reason, I'm just not that big on the desserts. I know that is heresy here in the land of Zebra dome lovers, but they don't flip my switch. I'm usually too stuffed for dessert anyway!

I think the soups are the best part.:earsboy:

I love the soups and the more unusual salad offerings AND the little fruit tarts on the dessert board. I usually skip the prime rib, salmon, etc so I can fill up on the more unusual things. I can get prime rib anywhere:goodvibes but the soups are simply so wonderfully different.

Love Love LOVE Boma!

Breakfast love the quinoa and toasted quinoa topping, great varieties of meats and casseroles.

Dinner-can't get enough of the soups, favorite by far is the carrot ginger, with the chicken chowder a close second. The tomato dish called Chaka Laka was so good I got the recipe, and the fu fu is also a big fav.

For dessert , while I think the zebra domes are good, I love the little fruit tarts, especially the key lime!

What, no mac & cheese? It's nice to see that there are so many different recommendations which means that the buffet offers enough of a variety to please everyone. Thanks for all the responses.:grouphug: But don't stop!

My absolute favorite is the sundried tomato hummus. Other favorites are the salmon, the soups, and the mango salad dressing. My hubby likes the red meat they have (prime rib maybe?) but it's a little too rare for my tastes.

They have a watermelon rind salad that's so weird it's actually sublime. Refreshing & delicious!

So, what exactly are Zebra Domes? I've heard so much about them, and it seems people either love them or don't understand why anyone would. I've seen a photo, but what are the like? Do they have a filling of some sort or are they just a sweet tasting bread?

We'll be staying at AKL in just two short weeks (OMG that's the first time I've typed that! Two. Weeks. Squeal!!)(excuse me. i lost my head there for a sec) so anyway, I guess we'll get to taste them and decide for ourselves, but in the meantime, curiosity is getting the better of me. What ARE they??

Zebra Domes are essentially a Kahlua, chocolate, espresso, and cream mousse covered in white and dark chocolate ganache.

Gawrsh. Just reading this description made me drool a little on my keyboard. Hard to believe that it's been three years since my last encounter with these delicious little beauties... 42 days to go! :cloud9:

Now you see, that description makes them sound absolutely delicious, but to me, they don't taste like that all. They aren't bad but I pass on them, that way there's more for the people who think they're the "bomb".

I prefer the little fruit tartlets and I'm a coffee/chocolate person! To each his own, I hope you all enjoy them!

haha That's funny because I just looked at the recipe and listed the ingredients that you can taste or see. I didn't even try to make it sound exotic and exciting! It just does!

I think that it's the Kahlua flavor that either makes people love them or hate them. Fortunately, I like Kahlua.

I really liked the Zebra Domes and had one both nights, but I didn't "omg love them." The Amarula cake, Cassava cake, and the little cheesecakes were all better in my opinion.
