Boma was GROSS!!

I am actually a very adventurous eater and don't like Boma. Jiko on the other hand is my favorite restaurant at WDW....go figure!:confused3

I think the spices/flavors are -- not surprisingly -- similar at Boma and Jiko but Jiko executes it better -- I don't think the quality is at all comparable (and it shouldn't be - we're talking buffet vs. signature restaurant)

Just another vote for one who didn't like it. Even my DH wasn't impressed and he usually likes everything. I DID however love the zebra domes. :thumbsup2 My favorite was 1900 Park Faire and DH's was Chef Mickeys.

Moving to the review board :)

Sorry Boma was not to your liking, It does have some unique flavorings used in the food and does not appeal to everyone

agree with OP..."gross" is an excellent description for most of the food at Boma.

I am an adventurous eater...eat Asian, Moroccan, Italian, French, Mexican, etc.

But did not love the majority of African flavors on the Boma buffett. Either bland as bland can be, or so spicy hot it burned my tongue.

The worst for me was the ribs that looked like absolutely perfect barbeque ribs...but the "BBQ" was cinnamon. Can't say "eww" loud enough on that one.

You are definitely not the only one...I just had it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and was not thrilled with it either, and I liked exotic food. The more foreign the better for me.

We all have our tastes, and like you, Boma was not for me. Tusker House is a good alternative for those who want to try something a little more exotic, but not too weird.

How is Boma for breakfast? Is the food more traditional or....um....gross? ;)

I was going to try it for dinner but since I am not adventuresome (loved Tusker house though...but that was pushing it into the overly spiced realm) so I am thinking I may stick to breakfast here....:goodvibes

Sorry you didn't enjoy your meal. We had a lovely meal but . . . I must confess . . . I didn't much care for the famous zebra domes!!!!!!!!!

We thought breakfast was very traditional. To be honest we were disappointed because it was so traditional. (Just goes to show that Disney really can't make everyone happy all the time):teeth:

We LOVE Boma; but that's why there is so much variety at WDW. I would HATE it if every restaurant had similar foods and used the same spices. Variety IS the spice of life afterall! :goodvibes

I agree. We really wanted to like it. I think I'm more disappointed with myself than Boma. :guilty:

Wow, we eat there EVERY time we go to WDW. We love Boma. My kids also love it. They have grown up on eclectic tastes and we have encouraged them to try all kinds of new foods. If your family eats meat and potatos and you have kids that eat hot dogs and mac and cheese, you probably wont like it. However, if you like all kinds of foods, and like to try new things, it is a must. There is nothing gross about Bomas, it's just fancier and more eclectic food. :flower3:

We didn't care for it for dinner either. But, we love it for breakfast.

I'm with you. I'm not a sweet and cinnamon/nutmeg kind of gal. I like spicy, the hotter the better. My family did love it though and I did have an ADR (honestly I did) for our trip next month, but I changed our dates and it didn't fit in the new dates :rolleyes1

We didn't like it either for dinner- and won't go again, we are giving to give it a second chance for breakfast this time. I hope we enjoy it more, especially since it's at our "home" DVC resort, so we will be spending alot of time there.:goodvibes

Wasn't a huge fan, because of that weird taste to everything... But between sampling the different meats, and the awesome desserts, I left stuffed, and felt it was worth it. I'm picky too, but I felt there were a few things I could digest.

my entire family has loved boma since the first time we were there about 6 yrs ago. we love the dinner and breakfast. the same goes for cape may cafe. those must be the best buffets in wdw. i have to admit that my grandchildren are very adventurous where food is concerned.;)

We went there and very much enjoyed the atmosphere. My family liked the food but to us it was just OK...there was some very tasty dishes and some we did not care for. I'm on the SeeFood diet...I see food and I eat it...but I agree, I did not care for some of the spices that was used on the meat. I'm sure we will be back, but not any time soon.

However, that being said...my family loves the new Tusker house buffet and we are going to be eating there again this coming Nov. Some would say it is the same kind of food even same spice...who knows :confused3
