We are longtime Boma devotees, but I'm looking to try new restaurants, so I was thinking of replacing Boma with Tusker House for our next trip. Tusker lunch is also cheaper, more convenient, and may come with Nemo reserved seating. But will we be disappointed? I'm especially worried because DW's favorite part about Boma is the soups.

We ate at Tusker House for lunch in May (had reserved seating for Nemo) and we all really enjoyed ourselves. We were very surprised since I wasn't sure if my kids would like it. My family decided that we will be doing Tusker House for lunch for now on when we are touring AK, with or without seeing Nemo. If you plan on seeing Nemo, I highly recommend making an ADR for lunch because the reserved seating was great and you didn't have wait in the long line outside. We walked in with 15 minutes and saw everything :goodvibes

Loved Tusker House at dinner. Buffet was fabulous. I believe there were a couple of soup choices, but I don't remember what they were. I don't think you will be disappointed.

We call Tusker House "Boma Lite." You will find many of the same foods and flavors, however the buffet is just less extensive. If you can't get over to AKL and want a taste of something more exotic, try Tusker.

I'm one of the few who just did not care at all for Boma.... We'd been doing Tusker House for lunch for 3 trips in a row and we all just absolutely love it... even my super-duper picky eater DD who is now almost 11. Last July I decided to try Boma for a change since everyone refers to TH as "Boma-lite"... :rotfl: I thought for sure Boma would be far better.... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 I just didn't like it :scared1: We have ADR's booked for Tusker House for our trip in 3.5 weeks! Can't wait to go back! :thumbsup2

My favorite part of Boma were the soups, but my overall lunch experience at Tusker House was better than Boma. The food stations were easier to access, and the variety of food was still impressive.

I walked to each station to view the offerings before picking up a plate. :thumbsup2

Tail Of The Tape: Boma vs Tusker House::
Let me preface this by saying that Boma and Tusker House are two of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of The Mouse. Same goes for our whole family. So to compare them is like comparing Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle - you simply can't go wrong with either. Basically, they both offer many of the same phenomenal qualities and they're both great at what they do. And as with DiMaggio and Mantle, it's the little things that make the difference when it comes to picking a favorite.

Well, we've never done Boma! The price and the travel time (we spend every second in the parks!) just hasn't made it worthwhile for us yet...
but we all agree (2 picky kids, 2 picky adults)..on Tusker House, every time. It is the only Disney restaurant that never dissapoints. Even the vegan was happy, the low-carb eater.. everyone has a great time there. So, 3 trips, 3 Tusker House meals.
The boy loved the salmon, the vegan got vegan samosas made just for him (just ask the server), and loved all the cous-cous dishes. I love - well, everything! But especially the tandoori chicken! The really picky 4 yr old ate mac n' cheese and fruit salads and cous-cous. :thumbsup2
Desserts are even good!

. . . . . and the staff at TH refer to Boma as "Tusker House Lite"! They're proud of their restaurant, and they should be.

I'm a big fan of both, though I've not done dinner at TH, only lunch. Next February we're doing an "all-star-restaurants" trip, where we're only going into parks for a couple days because the restaurants we want to eat in happen to be there. Both Tusker and Boma are on our list for this trip.

While not African-themed, the chocolate chip cookies on the dessert station at TH are fabulous.

Perfect comparision. We love Boma but really liked Tusker House, just felt we were missing out on some more exotic selections. We would not hesitate to do either again.
