Boma vs Ohana

No question, Ohana!

Our family doesn't really get the big fuss over Boma, but on these boards we seem to be the minority.

I would say BOMA, we have always loved BOMA, but are not hearing good things lately (friend back past weekend and not happy and other threads about cut backs on food there). OHANA is nice and close to the parks if that is better for logistics. Both resorts are beautiful!!) Let us know what you choose!!)

We went to 'Ohana for the first time last year and loved it! We got a later ADR and watched Wishes from the beach at the Poly and then went up for dinner. One of "THE BEST" WDW memories so far. The food was better than I expected. They have people that walk around with big skewers of meat (like a Brazilian Churrascaria Steakhouse). OMG the dessert was sooooooo yummy! It was some macadamia nut bread pudding type dessert! I wish I knew how good it was going in because I would have saved more room for dessert. Yum! Yum! It was heartbreaking leaving the plate half full. But, our bellies could eat no more. I have 'Ohana booked again for our upcoming trip. The kids are VERY excited. I also made an ADR at Boma for our upcoming trip. We're staying at AKV and will be in the area. So, I thought we'd give it a try. This will be our first time trying Boma. So, I am curious about the Boma reviews. :surfweb:

We just did both last week and both were delicious in their own way. I loved both equally but DH, DS9 and DS12 prefer Ohana over Boma. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I would choose which ever location will be more convenient for you that night.

Ohana is one of our fav restaurants in Disney! Boma was good but my husband didn't like the more exotic flavors..

Everyone seems to LOVE Boma, but I stayed at AKL and I wouldn't eat there. I didn't even like the smell when I walked by the restaurant. I LOVE Ohana though! It is SO much fun and I love the Poly resort.

I think Boma is better for picky eaters- since Ohana only serves a limited menu and you get what you're given. With that being said, I like Ohana better- the atmosphere and view can't be beat! But if you're not a big meat eater there is little to choose from there and Boma would be your best bet. Good luck!

Seriously,I really don't get what the hype is over Ohana's.The food really didn't impress me at all.I would much prefer Boma over Ohanas.Granted I just ate there only once,so maybe we just went on a bad night.
It is ironically funny too,as I really looked forward to Ohanas more then BOma,as I was nervous about that reservation. In the end,I left Boma glad I kept that reservation, and left Ohan's wondering what all the hype on these boards was all about...To each his own I guess...Lol.

Giving the thread a little "BUMP".

Anymore Boma reviews?!?!?!?!?!?!

Love love LOVE Boma, eat there or Jiko every trip. Had one of the worst meals in recent memory at 'Ohana a few years back (food and service-wise), and have no desire to give them another chance.

I used to love Boma, but my Boma meal on my trip last month was not good. 'Ohana was amazing!

We've eaten at Boma 3x and 'Ohana 1x. I do prefer Boma. I'll be staying at AKL next month and will be eating at Sanaa for the second time. As for preference, I liked Boma better than 'Ohana.

We ate at both for the first time in August, and while we enjoyed both, my vote would be for Ohana. We had a later ressie and were lucky enough to be seated in an area where we could watch Wishes (they pipe in the music).

The welcome bread was a pleasant surprise - pineapple coconut bread was awesome even the kids LOVED it.

Boma was good but loud and crowded. You could easily get to the salad, vegetable, and dessert pods but to get any meat the line was 15-20 mins the whole time we were there (and it was early -5PM). Everyone gave up on getting anything and we all left feeling that it was not worth the money.

AKL is also a little off the beaten path so you need to invest more time.

For what it is worth, when we returned I let my 14 year old give me a list of places to revisit next year - Ohana is #2 (behind Tappen Edo) while Boma did not make the list.

We prefer Boma over Ohana. Taking location out of the equation, we just are never impressed with Ohana's food. Perhaps because we have plenty of restaurants at home that serve meats on the skewer as an all you can eat style? I don't know. The only thing that I really enjoy there is the dessert, but that is not enough for me. I also find Ohana every bit as loud as Boma since that lady is always running around the restaurant with the kids. The only time I recall a quiet dinner there was when we were relegated to a corner of the room. We like Boma because they don't just offer exotic fare, but very normal foods for the picky eater. There are only a few spicy or ethnic dishes, so it always amazes me when folks discount the whole restaurant over that. We are not picky though and enjoy just about everything there. We also are there to relax and enjoy, not rush in and out for a meal and then bolt to the parks so the proximity or lack of it to the parks is a non-issue. I should also add we always have a car, so being at the mercy of Disney busses is not a consideration for us. If I had to factor that in and Boma and Ohana were my only choices for food, then and only then would I choose Ohana.

Our family votes for Ohana! We have dined there several times, but decided in 2007, we would give it a rest for a couple of years and try some new places. I have missed it and plan on eating there after our cruise Feb. 2010.

This past March, we tried Boma. We were not impressed, but I am glad we gave it a try. DH did not like the more "exotic" flavors. We left kind of hungry, the lines were just too long to wait in, especially for our 5 and 2 year old. We did not have a great waiter, either....he was very hard to find. Also, this was the first time in all my trips to Disney that I had an anniversary notification for DH and I, and it was not acknowledged at all, not even a "happy anniversary".

Everyone is different...give them both a try if you can!
