We are headed to WDW in a few days :yay: and I'm wondering if Boma would be a good fit for a meal for our family. (We have the QS plan right now and haven't made any ADRs - prefer to be a little less scheduled but are interested in trying Boma if we can get an opening.)

Here's our group, and then maybe you can tell me what you all think....

DH - will eat just about anything except mayonnaise (or anything cooked with it).

DS14 - pretty good eater, not very picky. Not a HUGE veggie fan but eats lots of them.

DS 8 - TERRIBLY picky eater. Is there anything fairly plain there for him to choose from? Loves all meats.

Me - newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease, so I can't have anything containing or prepared with gluten ingredients (wheat, rye, barley, etc). If anyone with Celiac has eaten at Boma, I'd love to hear what you were able to eat!

Thanks for any input or advice!

Sounds like a good fit to me. They have kids items like Mac and Cheese and chicken tenders for pickey eaters.

Can't comment on things for you but my wife has an intolerance to gluten and likes Boma. Definitely not as server as you though.

My DH will eat anything and he LOVES it. My daughters will not eat anything with mayo and they find plenty to eat. Boma is always requested. I'm very picky and in general am not one to try new things, but I love it as well.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about Celiac Disease, but I wish you the best. Sounds like it might be a good choice.

I got diagnosed with Celiac's disease and I find they have a TON to choose from.. tons of fruits, veggies, different meats... and I know if you tell them you have any sort of food allergy, they get the head chef and they'll come out and tell you what you can and can't have that they are offering that evening... sometimes they even offer something different for you!! I LOVE BOMA ! :) its my favorite... nothing better IMHO :)

we are huge Boma fans - and we are all very different eaters.

I will eat anything and Ds is pretty much the same and we eat and eat and eat there.

DD is very picky - plain meat and fruit - she can get stuff off the kid's station and has chicken tenders and fries, prime rib off the carving station and lots of fruit. They do ordinary cookies for dessert too so she is happy.

DH is a big eater but not much into dairy (no allergy just choosy) and he loves the salads, hummus, soups and meats.

Can't comment on celiac but friends of ours who recently visited have a serious nut allergy dad. He made his reservation and marked it on. They walked him through the things on the buffet he could have (I believe it was one of the chefs) and prepared a few special items for him too to ensure he had plenty of choice. :)

When you make ADRS there is now an option to put on if anyone in your party has any allergies or special requirements.

Most people I have seen have no problem getting food in any of the restaurants and the staff are happy to help.

I am like your DH and wont eat mayo on anything, for some reason it just makes me  to even think about it. I will eat pretty much anything else apart from fish, and in places like Fultons the staff were great at making suggestions and offering to get dishes made with just the beef/chicken and no fish.

For your DS9, no problems, he can find things on the buffet that he will like.
For you, as others said, the chefs will inform you what you can eat that won't get your diet off kilter. Just contact them in advance to find out what the selections will be.

For the others in your group, they will enjoy it to the max.

Boma has a really nice range of foods- I thin kit's a great place for people with different tastes. Enjoy!

I think Boma will be a fine fit for your family. If, as a PP noted, you include your Celiac's on your reservation, then remind them about it when you check in at the restaurant, a chef will come out and walk you through everything, showing you what you can and cant eat. I think you will have plenty to choose from.

PS: Boma's is one of our favourite buffets in all of WDW.

The chefs at Boma are outstanding. My adult son was staring at the scrambled eggs(w/goat cheese) wondering if he wanted to try them and the chef(completely unsolicited) said, "If you like, I can whip you some some regular ones." And he did. My son(his first time there) was VERY impressed. :thumbsup2

I think you'll all enjoy Boma. There is such a huge variety of food, and if you want something tweaked a bit they're always glad to do it. Do tell your server that you would like to speak to the chef regarding your needs -- it may take a few minutes for him/her to arrive at your table, especially if there are several diners there that evening who have food allergies, but they really go out of their way to make sure you're healthy and happy when you leave. When we visited last year with my mother in law, who has a shellfish allergy, the chef actually took her on a tour of the buffet and explained what was in each selection, highlighting those that she would want to avoid. I eat everything that doesn't run away from me, but I live with three of the pickiest people in the country and we all love Boma for both breakfast and dinner.
