My wife is a vegetarian and has reflux and cannot eat spicey food or tomato based foods. I understand that the vegetarian issue is not a problem, but is the food in Boma especially spicey?

It's not that the food is spicey, per se, but a lot of it does have a tomato base or pieces of tomato in it. I think that this may be a restaurant to skip given your wife's dietary restrictions. Maybe Jiko would be a good choice for you so that you still are eating the same style of food, but your wife's dish can be prepared to her specifications?

Good luck!

Erin :D

As a vegetarian who likes spicy food and tomatoes, I found Boma to be a little lacking in selection. I can't imagine being happy at all after eliminating the spicy and tomato dishes. Your DW might enjoy dining elsewhere more.

If you do choose to eat at Boma, be sure to discuss your dietary concerns with your server, and/or a chef there; They will certainly be able to point you toward the dishes that are suitable for you.

I do highly recommend Jiko. They have a Tofu with grain dish that we just loved, and I am sure they can prepare it to fit your needs.

Sorry,Haven't eaten at Boma's yet.
BUT, I loved Jikos.
Yes, Ricola, that many Grains dish was very good.(and not highly spiced.
I get so tired of pasta and Mushroom dishes after awhile.
They also let me pick some of their unique side dishes here.
The Maize "Tamale" was a soft corn Tamale (No Meat in it) lightly spiced "out- of- this- world good."
I also had a side dish made w/ Sweet Potatoes, also good".

I think Jikos would be a better choice for your wife.
And if You're NOT a veg. , like my husband, You'll love the beef Tenderloin (Filet Mignon ) over "Mac n Cheese", really more like an alfredo sauce.
He loved it.
Looking forward to eating there again ourselves in a few weeks.
Enjoy and have a great trip.

If you call the Disney dining line & let them know about your wife's diet restrictions, they will make a note on your PS's & also give you a number to call Boma's (or any other WDW site) directly to talk with the chef. With 24 hrs "heads-up", they can tailor a dish to your wife's restrictions. We have to do this for our son because he is severly allergic to all dairy products. Disney has been very accomodating & even said they could make a special trip to the grocery store so that he could have soy ice cream for dessert.:D

Thanks all for the answers. I may still do Bomas, cause I know that my wife can always get a plain piece of salmon. We've done that at other buffets like Chef Mickeys and Cape May. But I have plenty of time to decide :D

Darn, I wish that countdown clock would move faster
