I really want to visit AKL to look around and so I though with the FD, we would plan to eat a meal while there. Reading about BOMA, it sounds as if the food might not be what we are used to eating. So, I was planning on maybe doing a breakfast ressie....but it seems as if alot of people on the boards here really like BOMA for dinner. What kinds of foods are on the buffet? Are there "normal" foods that my kids will eat? my kids are considered adults for meals, they are 20, 17, and 11.

Thanx

Tracy

We felt the same way about the food thinking it was too "unique" for our tastes .....but when we finally did give it a try for dinner, we LOVED it :goodvibes. There are some different foods on the buffet, but there are also many "normal" foods as well ;). There is also a kids section that has chicken tenders, french fries, mac & cheese, etc....so I don't think you'll have any trouble finding something you like :). And there are ALOT of great desserts :thumbsup2. It really is a great place for dinner with alot of choices :wizard:.

We are going for our first time for dinner in september. from what I understand, they have african food and regular food. I am not an adventerous eater, so I figure I might be eating a million zebra domes if I don't like anything else. I was planning dinner so that we can explore the resort as well. I hope to stay there for our next trip.

I felt the same way. But if I could eat here & enojy it anybody can. I am a picky eater. It is a must do.

This question has been covered here many times. Although there is an amazing selection of interesting foods from Africa, there are just as many "American" options (if such a thing exists.) Carved meats, chicken fingers, fries, salads, etc. No worries, the food is amazing! DS16 is a horrible eater and Boma has long been one of his faves.

I'm as picky as they come and the buffet is one of the better ones on site. The meat stations are good and there is usually a potatoe / pasta that while may have a fancy name tastes great. I even sampled the soups.

Considering there is no characters it's a nice evening to relax at AKL.

I've ate at JiKo's too and it's a very nice dining experience.

It is a great mix of "traditional" foods and adventerous ones. I would say that goes for both breakfast and dinner there. My whole family loves it!:thumbsup2

I haven't been yet but am planning on making a ressie for our anniversary on Dec 4 since we're staying at AKL for the first time. I didn't want to since we traditionally do O'Hana but my parents said we have got to try it. My brother and his wife go there as well. They all love it so who am I to not try it at least once. My mother loves the roasted chicken and soups and said those are a must try when we go. Here's to crossing my fingers I get a ressie since my call day is in Sept.

We were a little hesitant in booking here, especially since I have a picky DH. We tried it and really liked going here. They were some basics, roasted beef and potatoes and as the others sais some more adventurous foods. I think you'll enjoy it.

We are Boma breakfast lovers so we thought we would love dinner too...uh no, the food at the dinner was just spiced too much wtih vanilla and cinnamon (which we both love but not on meats) and some of the food was just weird...even the desserts were kinda icky

You can't go wrong with either breakfast or dinner at BOMA! We've had both and loved it! There is a great variety of food and the service was wonderful. They did a beautiful dessert (yes, included Zebra Dome) & fruit platter for my birthday, free of charge too

I really like Boma, and I consider myself fairly adventurous. Not picky at all. I always am surprised when people say that there's plenty to eat, even for the pickiest eaters. I think almost everything has a "different" flavor, and I don't think I'd book it if going with a picky eater. But I'm sure glad the self-proclaimed picky people have enjoyed their meals!

IMHO I would definitely do breakfast here! It's the best in WDW!!
