Recently added one night at AKV Kidani, so thought we should check out one of these restaurants for dinner. They both sound pretty exotic to us, so which one would you suggest? What do you like about these? And, if you have eaten at both, which one may not be quite as adventurous for us? Any pictures?

Thanks in advance!

DH & I have been to both and Boma might be the better choice if you are not that "adventurous". They have a ton to choose from and the food is great. The nice thing is that you can be adventurous with it being to crazy. Also, I tend to be a picky eater - I am not a big veggie person, no beef, no seafood - and I find plenty to eat.

We did try Sanaa last trip and the atmosphere was great. Sitting there and watching the animals walk up to the windows while we were eating was fun. It was quiet when we were there and we thought the food was pretty good. My only issue with my meal was that they used dark meat chicken (again, I am picky and would not have ordered that had I known) so I picked at it. The curry sauces were tasty, not spicy and very good.

Good luck in choosing - I find that deciding which restaurants to go to are the hardest part of trip planning!

If you're not as adventurous then I'd say try Boma. I love it it's one of my favorite restaurants in all of Disney World. There are lots of options that are both exotic and pretty standard. However, I love the atmosphere at Sanaa. It is incredibly authentic, and the animals right outside add alot to the experience. The service is wayyyy better than excellent at both places. :)

I've eaten at both and personally like Sanaa the best. But for non-adventerous eaters I would recommend Boma. Since it's a buffet you don't have to 'commit' to the food like you would at Sanaa. If you don't like something at Boma, you can simply go try another dish!

If there's anything on the menu at Sanaa that sounds appealing, I would encourage you to try it. Things are not spicy (as in hot) there. But you can ask they be made spicier if you like! I like the ambiance at Sanaa better - it's more subdued and not so boisterous. Plus, the view can't be beat!

Here's a review I did of Boma: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=35847358#post35847358

And I haven't done a review yet of Sanaa, so here are pictures:

A look inside:

Salad Sampler - Roasted Beet Salad, Cucumber Tomato and Chickpea, and Watermelon, Lime, and Radish. - All Excellent!

Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned - Red Curry Chicken, 5 Grain Pilaf, and Beef Short Ribs - Loved all these too!

Dessert Sampler - Chocolate Cake, Chai Creme, Passion Fruit Kulfi - Cake was dry, but the other two were really yummy!

We've been to both more than once and love them both. Ii agree with cbg 1027. If you're not adventurous you'd probably be happier at Boma although it is louder and busier. Perhaps you can go to the bar at Sanaa and enjoy a cocktail and/or appetizer and the wonderful atmosphere during your stay. Being in that restaurant is a great experience.

Mmm....I remember that Chai Cream. I had it during our trip in June and loved it. They also had a delicious bread sampler for an appetizer.

I haven't eaten at Boma, but really liked Sanaa.

Thanks for all of the replies! I will let you all know what we decide. I like the idea of a cocktail at Sanaa!;)

So many people calling Sanaa adventurous dining, I don't understand?

Boma is just a themed buffet with a few African dishes thrown in. Most people REALLY like the food, though I personally have gotten sick every single time I've eaten there due some reaction to a preservative or something (this is just me though and this happens at certain restaurants and not others, haven't pinned it down yet) so don't read too much into that.

Sanaa is beautiful. The food isn't pedestrian but I wouldn't say it's adventurous either.

Personally I dislike buffets (got that from Mom) and the atmosphere at Sanaa is better (not 10,000 screaming and running kids).

Eh, I've rambled enough. If you want a very good buffet, go to Boma. If you want a quiet but somewhat different dining experience go to Sanaa.

I've eaten at both restaurants several times.

I like Sanaa better. The restaurant is a little more intimate and quiet. Plus it's beautiful. And the food is BEYOND excellent!!!

Boma is also great - but a different atmosphere. It's a buffet, so it's bigger and noisier. But if you're picky, there's be more options for you.

I gotta tell ya... we ate at Sanaa and LOOOOOVED IT. We're vegetarians that like weird things though. We would ABSOLUTELY go back! :cool1:

We went as a varied group of ten on our last trip and Sanaa was the number one choice of all, really surprised me. We at at Boma, Le Cellier and yachtsman, still Sanaa is the one everyone wants to return to.

I haven't had the chance to do either because the rest of the family loves Jiko. Aren't they changing their menu up?

I think Sanaa is "relatively" adventurous. In Disney, everything seems to be toned down to appeal to the masses. I think if you like spice and strong flavor, Sanaa is the best bet.

Sanaa! The meal and the atmosphere were great. Boma was good but not as good as Sanaa
