Boma or Saana?

Usually in a buffet there are 2 or 3 hero dishes and the rest is pedestrian just to fill space. At Boma everything is delicious and worth to try (ok, maybe not the nuggets in the kids station). My favorites are the soups, and I wouldn't even look at soups in any other buffet. And then, there are unlimited Zebra Domes, I have risked a sugar coma more than once.

That said, Sanaa is really really good too and if one can get a window table for lunch it's a unique experience.

Difficult to choose, I have booked both for my September trip 😁

Weighing in just in case you revisit this idea...

I like Boma for breakfast, but have never been impressed with their dinner. While it's not all you can eat like a buffet, we just feel Sanaa's food quality is significantly better. Sanaa's atmosphere is also nicer and if you can get a window seat, you have one of the best meals with a view at WDW. As a traditional menu meal, you also can sit and relax a lot more.

Sanaa! And you don't give up the zebra domes. When you're done, just go up one level, to the store right off the lobby and buy a 4 pk of zebra domes to take back to your resort to snack on later. Or, if you'd prefer, take your zebra domes over to the little library/animal viewing room, pull up a couple chairs and watch the animals while you eat your zebra domes.

Definitely Sanaa. I don't much care for buffets and would only consider BOMA for breakfast as I would any buffet. Besides the atmosphere at Sanaa is nicer.

If anyone in your party wants to drink you should choose Sanaa.

If price is a factor choose Sanaa.

If you're going to be eating well before the sun goes down choose Sanaa. Nothing beats sitting by the windows checking out the wildlife eating the bread service and sipping on Somrus over ice.

If none of the above is true then choose Boma. The great variety of food will provide a little more of a wow factor for dinner.

Eating while watching the animals at Sanaa can be really cool. When we dined there last May it started to rain and most of all the animals would start running towards shelter with the exception of one ostrich that continued to stand right by our window through the worst of it. It was pretty funny to watch!

Boma has an incredible selection and is the only buffet we frequent. If you want variety they Boma it is. For a simple al a cart meal Saana is quite good.
Hi all,

For my resort day I’m trying to choose between Boma or Saana for dinner. Adults only. Which you would recommend and why?

Thank you!

You're getting quite a divided response here! 😂 You can't go wrong with either, but I personally prefer Sanaa. We went for an early dinner at about 5:45pm and still plenty of animals roaming about. The food was the best that we had during our trip.

We didn't do any quick service dining at AKL so will let others comment on that!

We haven't done Boma in a few years, last time was pre-Covid. but it used to be our go-to, and it is still our favorite buffet. We talked about going on our last trip, when we stayed at AKL Kidani, but for the 4 of us, it was just too pricey. We've done Sanaa twice with mixed results. It was fine, but we weren't all that impressed. We have done the bread service to-go on our last couple trips, and LOVE that. I'd probably do Sanaa to go, but a meal at Boma given the choice.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know we decided to go with Boma for dinner! I’ll report back how it was! As far as The Mara goes, we have liked everything we have ordered, however we wish they had more options, especially for lunch.

Excellent decision. Enjoy. Ultimately, you'll find split decisions out here for any 'favorite' conversation, whether it's a resort, dining, park, attractions, etc! The only way to know for sure is to give it a try and see what you and your family think. For us, Boma at dinner is a great choice. It's a buffet that doesn't seem like a buffet, and we've gone there probably 25-30 times over the years. We would recommend you definitely try some of their unique soups. Hope you have a great meal, and return again in the future. If not, at least you can decide why or why not!

Thank you. My husband is asking me some stuff on the menu. I’m more of adventurous eater than him. What are your top recommendations (besides the soup of course).

Well, the soups..... and the soups.... But so many good things to choose from, and they will change slightly night-to-night. The carving station usually has excellent choices for the meat-lovers. The African Bobotie, which is made in a skillet with meat and veggies. The dip (humus, etc), all excellent. And many, many dessert options. But if they have it - butternut squash soup!! Enjoy.

Thank you! I’m trying to go as hungry as possible lol.

If you are really curious about the bread service at Sanaa now that you've chosen Boma, I believe it can be ordered to go?

As I tell people, you really can't go wrong with any of the three sit down restaurants at AKL, they're all amongst the best on property!
