We currently have an ADR for Saana on our last day of our trip in August. I have read the reviews but very worried we won't find something that we like. I have looked over the menus but just not sure-- for those who have eaten there have you been able to find something that you like?? i want to say we are not adventurous but we do want to try new places to eat. I am second guessing the ADR.

Have you eaten at Bomas?? Which would be better? or offer a good variety of food?? There is availablity at Boma's for our time too.

I always try to second guess some adr's. Can some one help me with reviews of both if you have eaten at both??

thanks in advance

Hi we have the same problem.DH is fine with the meat selection but he hates rice and usually has fries and there are none on Sanaas menu:confused:

If you don't see anything on the Sanaa menu that you like, then I would suggest Boma. They have a wide variety of food, from exotic to comfort food (the "kids" buffet seemed just as popular with adults when I ate there!), great salad and soup choices, fresh fruit, and delicious desserts. Best of all- if you don't like what you selected, you can start with a new plate, and all new food choices! For the price you will pay for a sit down meal at AK, you don't want to leave hungry and/or dissapointed. I can almost guarantee you will leave Bomas full and satisfied! I really liked the atmosphere at Bomas, as well. If you find yourself enjoying the more adventurous dishes at Boma, then you could try Sanaa next time! Good luck with your decision!

Go with Boma. The food is wonderful and you will surely find something you will like. What I do is get a little bit of everything. If I don't like something, well at least I tried it. If I like something, I go back for seconds and even thirds.

Both Boma and Sanaa are fantastic (I ate at both in May and am eating at both again in September) but if you can only choose one and are leery of the selections at Sanaa, you might want to switch to Boma.

Personally, I like Sanaa better, but I'm not a big fan of buffets in general. The two items slow-cooked in gravy seemed to be a popular choice from the Sanaa menu, and the beef shortribs and chicken were both fabulous and not at all scary, in my opinion.

Whichever you choose, consider giving the other a shot on your next trip, though. Good luck!

I'm glad that you posted this b/c I was wondering the same thing. We will be staying at AKL and can't decide which to choose for our first night. We have eaten at Boma once, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. My DH and I wanted to give Sanaa a try, but my only concern is not being able to find something that our DS11 will like. The only reason that we might stick with Boma is that if he chooses something that he doesn't love, he can always go back. :thumbsup2 I would just hate to spend so much $ on his meal and he not love it. He would never go for ordering off the kids menu b/c he is a super stickler for rules.

I am not at all adventurous. But DH is. I can go to Boma's with no problem.

I'd rather go to Sanaa, but my family doesn't agree with me. So your milage may vary.
I prefer Sanaa because the food had a little flavor to it. Boma is a good buffet, as far as buffets go, but I thought that Sanaa was more interesting. That said, a lot of people adore boma.

They did make little potato strips - not french fries, but like strips of pan fried potatoes, for my son as part of a child's meal. My wife said the steak is good, fwiw. If I wanted beef I'd rather have that steak than a slice of prime rib, if that makes sense. I had the red chicken curry and green shrimp curry, which to me was better than anything I'd had at boma.

Again, ymmv.

We've eaten at Boma at least half a dozen times. But, we liked Sanaa better. We probably won't go back to Boma again for at least a few trips. There are alternatives to the rice. And there are many selections that are not "adventurous". However, it is similar to Jiko in that it is a standard menu driven restaurant. If you can only be happy with a buffet, then, this is not for you.

The food was fantastic there. Nothing was "spicy" as most people mean spicy. In other words, it was not hot spicy. It was very flavorful. The only thing my sons did not like was the spinach and cheese. They thought it would be like a spinach and artichoke dip they had at house of blues. It was not. So, other than that, they both loved it. In fact, my youngest said he likes Sanaa best of any at Disney now.

Another way of thinking about it, are you staying at Jambo or Kidani? One the one hand, you might want to eat at the one where you are staying, on the other hand if you were eating at the other one that would give you a reason to go over there if you don't have another reason and want to go.

apples and oranges. a buffet restaurant(which I avoid like the plague) vs Sanaa.

Sanaa was one of our better meals of the few we ate on Disney property. The views of the animals, were awesome as was the pulled currry dick appetizer.

I didnt even consider Boma as an option.

Thank you all for the input. We will be staying at AKV-Kinadi. I am still on the fence on which to choose. I don't mind buffets- it does give DC more choices. Also we would not be charged for ds2 w/food allergies. When we go to non-buffets we get a seperate bill for him but not at the buffets. We are going to be on DDP too. I think DH would like the pulled pork if that is what it is called. I will have to look over the menu again to see what might work for the DC. I also like that Saana has the animals to watch too if we are lucky enough with a good table. It is true we can try one and then try the other next year too.

Thanks again on the suggestions. It gives me more to think about. Now to decide before I send in the allergies form for dining.

We have been to Sanaa and the food is fabulous. We have been to Boma many times, but, for your last night there, make it memorable, stick with Sanaa.

If you can't find something on the Sanaa menu you like, I will be surprised...we found it to be a hard choice what to have because everything sounded wonderful, lol, and it was.

the pulled currry dick appetizer.

:rotfl:I hope you meant duck:rotfl2:

We currently have a reservation at Boma but I think we may change to Sanaa. There are some reviews on the review boards and the food looks delicious.

I also like that Saana has the animals to watch too if we are lucky enough with a good table.

we arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation, and requested a window table when we checked in. We waited in the bar, and were seated at a window table right at our reservation time.

Oh -- didn't think about requesting a table by the window. We have an early ADR so maybe;) I will check over the menus again. I guess I am just 2nd guessing myself since we have never been before- it is new but it is okay to try new. I think what is throwing me off is the "spicy" food. I don't like Hot spicy but I keep forgetting that it is favorable instead of hotness.

It is the last night of our trip so I do want it to be fun. I think we will stay w/ the current ADR but just need to double check the menus. I did read all the reviews when they 1st open so that is what prompted to pick it.

I guess I just need something to panic over for this trip:laughing::laughing:
Last year was figuring out how to deal w/ ds2 allergies which ended up being a breeze.

Thanks for the suggestions
