We are coming in for a short trip in December (5 days) at the Poly and are limited with what we can do because of Spirit of Aloha one evening, and MVMCP another evening. We are a party of 4 adults and 1 5 year old. When laying out plans we are going to have one free evening because of MK closing early and I had originally made an ADR for Boma and planned for us to explore AKL a bit (we have never stayed there or visited) possible check out the campfire if they are doing one.

However I spoke to a CM and it looks like it is very likely (even though I can't book it yet) that there will be a Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage on that evening and so I was thinking instead we could go to the Wave for dinner, see the gingerbread displays (I feel like I was told they were here) and then go on the fireworks cruise.

So my questions, Has anyone done Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage? What did you think? Who is the surprise that meets you at the docks? Which evening would you pick if you could only pick one. Thanks for any help!

PS I feel like I should probably include that the 5 year is pretty pirate obsessed and will have gone to the Pirate's league for his makeover that day.

I will say we love Boma but would pick the Pirates and Pal Voyage. We absolutely loved it. We were a party of 8 with 5 kids from 12 to 19 - we all had a blast. Our guide was fantastic. We laughed the whole time. It starts with snacks at the CR and everyone got bandannas. Then you head to the boat.

Do the Pirate and Pals Cruise. Our two sons loved it (really we all did). Great snacks beforehand with visits from Cp. Hook and Mr. Smee. Peter Pan greets at the dock after the cruise.

I bolded the winning quote! Pirates and Pals is such a fun event and if the 5-year old is pirate obsessed and already dressed, it will be super fun!! We did this exact thing when DS was 5 (dinner at the Wave and Pirates and Pals) and we had so much fun. Plus, it's close to the Poly and after a day at MK, you may not want to go all the way over to AKL for dinner. Don't get me wrong, AKL is beautiful and Boma is good (the Wave is just as good, IMHO), but Pirates and Pals is a true event and it's super fun!

This is a no brainer- while Boma is good- its just a well stocked buffet. The 5 year old and the rest of your crew will have waaaay more fun with pirates and pals then Boma.
