which one do you prefer? i have eaten at boma and really liked it, should we try ohana for next trip or stick with boma? thanks:goodvibes

We are in the minority who hate hate hate 'Ohana. We have tried it a few times and between the over cooked/dry meats and poultry, the obnoxiously loud emcee and the bad service, this is one restaurant we will not be going back to anytime soon.

We like Boma for both breakfast and dinner. If you liked Boma but want to try something different, check out Sanaa. It is not a buffet like Boma or served family style like 'Ohana but the food and atmosphere is great.

It's like asking "Beyonce or JLo?" You can't lose.

If I could only pick one, it would be Boma, just because it's my favorite restaurant *anywhere*. But every two or three years, I put up with the hassle that 'Ohana has become and eat really tasty food that isn't very good for me.

We liked all 3. I preferred O'Hana and my DH preferred Boma. Sanaa was very good too. I highly recomend the tandoori chicken!

Boma, just because it's my favorite restaurant *anywhere*

I could not agree more with that statement. Although I should probably admit that I'm a vegetarian, so I'm not the most unbiased of diners. But the rest of my group are omnivores, and they weren't as impressed by 'Ohana as they were elsewhere.

... if Boma were inside Animal Kingdom (thus making it much easier to get to), I firmly believe it would be the most popular restaurant on property.

Our family looks forward to Ohana more than any other meal on the vacation, every year.

I don't get some of the hate for it on these boards. I've heard complaints of meats not being cooked to individuals tastes, but they are always happy to cook specialized skewers (I always get medium rare, extremely pink steak cooked just for me.)

Some complain about the rushed nature of the meal..well, take your time! They don't FORCE you to et the courses quickly, they just bring them quickly.

The pot stickers are delicious (and that peanut sauce..YUM.)

The atmosphere is fun and family oriented, the service is always prompt and friendly, and you can eat yourself sick (which I always seem to do.)

And lastly, for my money, the bread pudding dessert is the best I've had in Disney, hands down.

does ohana have any chocolate for desserts for us chocolate lovers? also thanks for the replies!:goodvibes

sanaa does look good, what have you had there that you liked?

My fiancee and I usually each get the slow cooked, pick 2 with rice option. Of the options on that my 2 personal favorites are the beef short ribs and the shrimp in green curry sauce, but between the 2 of us we have tried all the different choices and you can't really go wrong. If you are on the dining plan or going OOP, the bread service for 2 is an absolute must (there is enough there that 4 people could easily share it).

Personally, I love the bread pudding dessert - it's something I never would have picked on my own, but it's fantastic... consider giving it a chance.

But to answer your question: I haven't done it myself, which makes it heresay, but I've read here on the boards about several people telling their server that they didn't want the bread pudding - and they were then told they could have any of the desserts offered down the hall at Kona. Hello, Kilauea Torte!!

'Ohana for us....every trip!! We thought Boma was just average. :confused3
I was surprised about the bread pudding at 'Ohana....so good, but not something I would've ordered on my own. The food has been consistantly good there for us, and we just can't stop ourselves from going back. :)
I really didn't like the soups at Boma, but the Zebra Domes were quite yummy. My vote...give 'Ohana a try!!!:thumbsup2

Ohana get my vote although Boma is quite good as well.

Ohana seems to get two complaints. Slow service, or overcooked dry meats. I had slow service once in 5 times there. But thats true of just about all other restaurants at any given day. Most of the time great, once in awhile slow service.

As for overcooked meats, never a problem for us. When the server comes to take our drink orders we tell them exactly how we like our meats cooked. Perfect every single time. Otherwise they just bring you whatever they have, sometimes rare, sometimes well done. Just ask based on what your tastes are and you'll get it. Ohana is a fun place and great food.

Boma is also very good but not for the picky eater. We also enjoy going outside before or after dinner and use the CM's night vision goggles to view the animals.

:thumbsup2 This!! Could not have said it better myself for DH & I. We have always asked and received our meat anyway we wanted it and there has never even been a hint of a rush with us. We've sat there close to two hours (time seems to pass so fast) just relaxing and mainly because we are slow eaters and thoroughly enjoy our dinners. Never been ignored as some people have said, just don't understand it :confused3 We also love Boma and go there every time also.

Boma and Ohana are probably my two favorite restaurants.'Ohana - It is one of our family's favorite places to eat at Disney

Our family loves the food, and atmosphere at both Boma as well as Ohanas.
We are doing a little WDW prestay next week before our 7 night Disney Cruise to the western caribbean aboard the Magic.
We have reservations for Ohanas next Wed eve,and reservations for Bomas for Fri eve.We cant choose between them,so just do both.:thumbsup2

We're a Boma fam. We LOVE the Poly, love the concept of Ohana, love the atmosphere, but the food/service is inconsistent. We want to love Ohana, but Boma is much more consistent with quality of food. At Boma the aspect of service is much less important, though our service there is much better than Ohana. We are WDW vets and I'm sure at some point we'll return to Ohana. Meanwhile, we hit Boma pretty much every trip:earsboy:
