DW and I are having one night without the kids, they will be in a kids club. Of all the sites with a kids club the restaurants at AKL sounded the best/most interesting to us. Boma b/c of the variety of the buffet and Jiko b/c of atmosphere and menu. Also, good reviews for both. How about some input? Oh, Sanaa even sounds very good too but would rank third b/c desserts didn't seem too interesting.

We are staying at AKL this trip and have NO plans to eat at Boma. We ate there in '08 and really did not care for it at all. I would book Jiko if I were you. It will be much more relaxing and you will have a nice time for just you and your spouse. Boma is loud, crowded and rushed.

I have eaten at both Boma and Jiko. Jiko is more upscale while Boma is more casual and family-oriented. If you are looking to have a quieter evening with your wife, with a little more atmosphere, Jiko is the better bet. I thought the food is good at both, the difference is the presentation and setting. Boma is a buffet and gives a good sampling of Africa inspired cuisine, while Jiko offers a more elegant paring of entrees with African wines, etc. Hope this helps.

Jiko is by far the better restaurant. Great food and service and a really interesting wine list. Definitely the place to go for a quiet, "adults only" meal.

I think it depends on what you are looking for. We are adventurous eaters and Boma provides more unique dishes than Jiko. Jiko has some interesting appetizers with an amazing selection of African wines and it's a pretty restaurant but their entrees and desserts are not unique. If you want atmosphere, quiet time, Jiko is the better choice.

Most definitely JIKO (Or Sanaa at the Kidani Village).

Boma is a buffet, so you both would be getting up every few minutes and it will feel rushed to you. There are lots of people in line at the buffet and it IS very loud in that restaurant.

Hi,
Boma and Jiko offer two different dinning experiances. For an adult get away even I recommend Jiko. We have had dinner here many times and have never had a bad experiance. Go and enjoy.

To me, Jiko in a second. Boma is good, but Jiko has some great dishes. My wife's favorite restaurant and one of my top fav's.

I vote for Jiko. You'll love it - I am one of the few who is not crazy about Boma - but we went there for breakfast our last day of our trip and maybe I was just sad - LOL.

Jiko hands down! I had a horrible experience at Boma in December, will not be going back for a LONG time. Jiko, however, is wonderful. Definitely one of my favorite dining experiences in all of WDW. We are planning to go back next trip. :thumbsup2

For a quiet dinner for two definitely Jiko - my husband and I have our 'no kids' meal there every time we visit:thumbsup2

Second would be Saana, especially if you get a window seat.

The food is good at Boma, but because it is buffet as was mentioned in another post, you feel rushed.

We strongly prefer Boma, and we have eaten at both several times. While we have had excellent appetizers at Jiko, we have been consistently disappointed with the entrees. We did try that creme brulee dessert there, though, and it was KILLER.

After trying Boma, I would never go on a trip to Disney World without revisiting it. It was just impressive.

If I were you, I would decide what kind of meal you want to have. While we definitely liked the food at Boma better, the two restaurants are totally different experiences. Jiko is dark and upscale. Boma, while utterly delicious, is a buffet. The experience there is obviously not quite as luxurious.

You are going to love AKL!

LIke some of the other posters, I think your choice should depend on what kind of atmosphere you want. Boma is a big, noisy, eating barn. The food is great, and there are many choices. A good atmosphere for lively families. It's served cafeteria style (for the most part), and the desserts alone are great fun.

Jiko is definitely more upscale, quiet, with a warm, dimly lit atmosphere. The food is excellent. Much more apropos for adults or families with older children.

It's really nice to end your Animal Kingdom day with a meal at either restaurant.

Have fun!

:woohoo:

We like Boma, but if we had to pick a restaurant, either Artists Point or California Grill. Hope that didn't confuse the issue!

Actually, the way we discovered Jiko is kind of funny. Years ago we thought we had booked the buffet (and thought it as Jiko) because the buffet sounded more casual and, being in park clothes, we would be underdressed for the more "formal" restaurant. When we got there, I had mixed up the names and, you guessed it, we had reservations for Jiko! We were told no problem with the park clothes, were seated, and our meal was magnificent. And we've kept going back ever since. Love it

Hands down Jiko.:thumbsup2 Its in our top three Disney restaurants. It has a lovely adult atmosphere and the food and service is great.:cloud9:

We also really enjoyed Sanaa but for a romantic evening it would have to be Jiko.

I would have said hands down Jiko until we ate at Sanaa this last trip. . .for Atmosphere, you should eat at Sanaa. . .the food was delish, the service OVER THE TOP and seeing the animals outside on the savannah was awesome. . .
