Haven't been to either. Mom, Dad, a 15 yo boy, 9 yo girl and a 2 yo. Which one should we do? Thanks for any thoughts. Would like to walk around and see the animals afterward.

With some of your children being young I would do Boma. They have a great selection, along with a kid's buffet selection.

Jiko is a wonderful restaurant, but I have had meals there that take 3 hours and little ones can get antsy and disturb other diners.

For a dinner with the kids I'd go to Boma

For a dinner without the kids I'd go to Jiko

I'd pick Boma for breakfast and Jiko for dinner.

2 yos are all different of course but children are accepted and expected at all WDW restaurants save V&A and probably Le Bistro. You can always order just entrees if you need to speed the meal up for your little one. I will say though that when ours were young, I thought servers did an excellent job pacing the meals.

I have been to both and love them equally, but they are very different.

Boma is a family friendly buffet; the food is interesting (and very good); and service completely self paced. Be careful of the desserts, many of them have alcohol (they are marked, so read the cards). I love going to this restaurant with my kids; they get to eat quickly, and love going back to the buffet and trying new things- everyone loved the carrot soup and the hummus.:goodvibes

Jiko is a much more upscale, romantic dinner spot. Although children are, of course, allowed- the restaurant decor is more subdued, the room is quieter, there are usually more courses involved - and the flavors are more complex; the wine list is extensive, and the service is fabulous.

If you only have time for one meal, I would examine what you think your family would enjoy more. Personally, I would feel stressed with my little ones at Jiko, but can relax with them at Boma- and after we walk around the grounds and enjoy the atmosphere with them. But what is best for you is really based on your family. Trust me, neither is a "bad" choice.

Sans kids...Jiko, hands down. Of all the places we have eaten at in Disney, Jiko has been the best (even better than California Grill - which I have eaten at many times as well).

Otherwise, Boma is amazing as well. Great selection and quality of food.

These two restaurants alone were one of the reasons we bought in at Animal Kingdom Villas.

Agreed - Boma with kids; Jiko without

Much greater variety for kids and atmosphere at Boma for kids.

Jiko is an elegant sit-down meal - definitely better for adults only

I would do breakfast at Boma with everyone (Love there breakfast) but I would do Jiko without the childen...
