Boma or Jiko Is it worth it if you aren't staying there?

It's definitely worth the trip to AKL to go to Jiko. It's definitely one of my favorites, and my "I'll go anywhere else as long as we also go to Jiko" restaurant. Boma's great too, especially if you want to sample a lot of African-inspired food, or eat half-a-cow's worth of prime rib. But don't miss Jiko.

We are staying at the Poly, but traveling to the AKL for dinner at Boma the first nite we are there rather than going into a park for only a few hours. I have an ADR at Boma, but may call and see if Jiko is available.

We have stayed at AKL twice but it has been a few years and our twins don't remember it, so we wanted to go and see the place all decorated for xmas

When I made our ADR the CM told me they have night vision goggles available to see the animals at nite, you just need to ask a CM where to get some, I thought the kids would get a kick out of that as well

Just to let you know, when we went to Jiko we were seated in the wine room. In this room we were one of three families. We are a family of four (two teenagers), there was another family with two little boys (looked about 8 and 6) and the last family had an infant and a toddler aged girl. All children were well behaved and we had no issues with the occasional children noises. (laughter, crying, ect...) In fact, even with the children, Jiko was the quietest meal of the trip.

Boma is my favorite restaurant at Disney World so that is my suggestion. I eat that kind of food often so the exotic nature of it doesn’t bother me. When I lived in FL I would have friends who were skeptical about the menu meet me there all the time and none of them ended up disappointed.

I always make budget time and money for Boma. Not much of a view out the windows but it's not all that noticable because I'm eating and I think the restaruant is very aesthetically pleasing to look at. I think it is totally worth the trip to eat even if you aren't staying there.
