I am looking to try a new restaurant during my solo trip this year. I enjoy seafood so I was looking at Boathouse. I have never eaten at any of the disney springs restaurants. I also loved Tusker House when I went a couple years ago for Lunch so I thought I might really like Boma. I can't decide between the two. Any opinions about which is better? I will be at Animal kingdom that day.

Wow…we just ate at both this past week. Both are phenomenal….but…the best meal we had of the week was still Boma for me. It was just stellar. Don’t get me wrong, Boathouse is great too…but if you’re looking for unique flavors and stuff you’ve never had before, Boma gets my pick. Plus it’s easy to catch a bus directly to AKL from the park. The bus will probably stop at Kidani Village first before going to Jambo House. You want to get off at Jambo House. Then if you want to get back to your resort quickly, I would hail an Uber. That’s what we did. Got us back to Port Orleans Riverside in 10 minutes. Taking Disney bus transport probably would have taken over an hour.

I hard decision - both are excellent in both food and theming ! You will not go wrong with dining at either one of these choices.

Have you ever visited Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo house before? If not then do Boma as this would also give you the chance to see and explore this resort in conjunction with your dining reservation. If you want a more energetic experience do the Boathouse as it's right in the middle of Disney Springs.

On my last trip I did both - Boathouse at the beginning and Boma at the end. Both were some of the best dining I had during my trip, with the best being California Grill with an excellent fireworks view so I'm judging them against a decent standard. Whatever you choose - have Fun !!

I agree we love both and would try to work them in but if you can only pick one would say Boma it is easy to get there from AK and the buffet has a lot of choices. Depending on your dinner time and AK park hours you might be able to take the bus back to AK for a bus to your resort or from AKL to a different park. If you don’t make it back and want to go right to your resort the front desk at AKL would not call a taxi for us when we were there in November which we thought was weird because we stayed at CBR and the few times we had a breakfast at another resort bell services handled it.

Boma! Boathouse is great but it is not unlike other nice seafood restaurants on the water. Boma is something you will not find anywhere else, plus it will be very easy to get to on your AK day as AKL is only a five minute bus ride from the park, and the buses come very frequently given the proximity!

I have never been to Boathouse, it is on my list. I have been to Boma multiple times, and I don't get the love... When I am dining solo, I like to be able to relax. Every time I have been to Boma with friends or family it has been chaotic. Maybe I am just unlucky there? One time it was a girl vomiting multiple times at her table before her parents finally took her out, and another it was a kid rolling around on the floor with his blanket while his parents and grands sat there laughing. I was just stressed on behalf of the servers the whole time :( If you pick Boma, maybe ask for a table on the outskirts to stay out of the fray.

Wow! You definitely had a few unlucky visits.

My last trip there was solo and it was a table towards the outskirts. You would have enjoyed it - I found it to be just what you wanted.

Boma!! It has the best chicken corn chowder and lamb curry stew EVER. If I just went for that, I'd be happy for the entire vacation. But then there are meats and so many things to go with it. Love this buffet!

That chowder last week was awesome, as well as the sweet corn pudding....omg, so yum!

We have eaten at both a few times. Boathouse is very nice and you can't go wrong with that.

But Boma has the best buffet at WDW. Lots of variety.

As a solo, you can always stop in at the bar and eat at Boathouse without a reservation.
Boma is great and Jambo is beautiful. I'd make reservations at Boma.
If you have some time on your hands and you happen to be at Boathouse, just pop in and eat at the bar or out on the deck, you don't need reservations for either.

Definitely Boma. I can’t think of anything at home I can compare it to. Boathouse food and ambiance can be had elsewhere.

The only thing I didn’t enjoy at Boma my last visit was the salmon. The squash soup was exquisite.
