Ive been to Disney several times now and never seem to manage to get to these restaurants. They are always out of the way, but ive always wanted to try both. So, on my AK day, those two are my choices. I will have a 14 and 8 year old with me. I feel as though Beaches n cream would be more of where my kids would probably enjoy the food more over Boma. But, I know AKL is closer to AK which is more convienient and the resort is also somewhere I'd like to visit as Ive never been there before. If you had to chose between the two, where would you go?

We choose Beaches and Cream at least once every trip, but, we stay at the Beach Club, so it makes it an obvious choice. We love it. We have eaten at Boma before (many years ago) on a trip to AKL, and it wasn't our favorite, but many here love it. Walking around the Animal Kingdom Lodge before or after dinner is a great experience. Have you looked at Sanaa?

Traveling from a park to a resort then back to a park just to have lunch can eat up a lot of time. Beaches and Cream is a five minute walk out the back gate of EPCOT. It's very small, so have a reservation.

I love both of these, but they are very different from each other, as I'm sure you know. I would choose Boma as it is so much easier to get to and so close to AK. Besides some more unique food choices of the Boma buffet, there are also plenty of items for eaters who are not adventurous. Also, keep in mind Boma is much more expensive than Beaches and Cream, if that has anything to do with your decision. Even with an ADR, you will most likely have to wait outside for a while at Beaches & Cream since it's such a tiny restaurant.

I was surprised to see that you were choosing between the two because they are completely different in terms of price, type of food, and location.

Boma doesn't serve lunch. Dinner is an African buffet, although there are some kid-friendly items. Here are the dinner prices:
Adult price range: $41.33-$47.59;
Child (ages 3-9) price range: $21.10-$26.29

At Beaches & Cream, you can get a burger for $16. If you planned to eat lunch there and then go back to Animal Kingdom park, going back and forth would take a bit of time, as mentioned above. If you planned to eat dinner there and then go back to Animal Kingdom park, you'd better check to see how late the park is open that night.

If I thought my kids would want burgers, I'd stay at Animal Kingdom park and eat there.

If I thought most of the people in my group wouldn't want to try the African food, I wouldn't go to Boma. Yes, they would be able to find non-African food there and wouldn't go hungry, but why pay that much if someone is just going to eat the Mac & Cheese? (I can see if all but one person in your group wanted to try the African food, but doesn't sound like that's the case for your group.)

Boma makes way more sense if you are at AK. And you are correct that visiting AKL is fun even without the meal.

I hope you are 180 days out. Haven't been able to snag a Beach's n Cream at 90+ days out. All days of our trip; lunch or dinner.

Two so very different places!! Boma is a nice buffet to try different African cultured type foods.
Beaches & Cream is basically like a sit down fast food place - burgers/chicken strips type. Its shining crown for us are the different ice cream concoctions. Yum!! We never go there to just eat a meal.

Boma, no question about it. Unique food choices, buffet, so you can try what you want, fantastic setting, and lots to explore at AKL.

If you're interested in ice cream, Beaches and Cream is fun, but the food is blah. Standard diner stuff - burgers, dogs, grilled cheese. Zzzzzz.

Ah like apples to oranges... Beaches and cream is great for a grilled cheese and a sundae, but it is small, crowded, and hard to get into. Boma is often easier to get into but more expensive. The buffet is good though, and I feel like even kids could find things they like (there's the standard mac and cheese, corn, etc, but I think even kids would like some of the other options. Some of the food is sweet, which I think kids would like). I personally love both, and have been to both a lot. It all depends whether youre a fan of buffets and what price you're willing to pay. The atmosphere at both is good (though like I said, Beaches can be a bit cramped). The food is good at both (though the ice cream at Beaches is just Edy's, which you can find all over. But their peanut butter sauce is AMAZING). I think either are worth doing at least once (and I wouldnt say that about all Disney buffets or restaurants).

Boma. Hands down. ESPECIALLY, if you're never taken the time to enjoy AKL!

We went to B&C this last trip mainly based on the love it gets on these boards and were VERY disappointed. We won't go back.

Myself and my DGD (11) did not care for BOMA at all, it was part of our sense of Africa toar, so we went, but I would never go again, good thing it was breakfast and they did have scrambled eggs and such. Now beaches and creams, was the hardest to get into, time after time I could not get a ressies, it took 8 years and finally got one last year, we both loved it. Me for the memories, my DGD wanted to get the Mickey pants ice cream, so she ask if it was okay to order off the kid menu and eat more ice cream than food. OMG those pants are huge, and her eyes bulged when they brought it. Service dog got a treat that day. I loved the food, the small town New England feel of an old ice cream shop. ( our summer place growing up was near kenneport maine, and we use to go to an ice cream shop where you order your ice cream and put your own toppings on, this reminded me of that place).

By the way, we did them on the same day. We went for our tour of sense of Africa, and after we went to beaches and creams. We just stayed at Epcot the rest of the day and did not go back to AK. If you could change your park to HS or EP it would be better.

why not the character meal at tusker house while you're at AK?
and now you can book it as a rivers of light dining package as well...
