We are going to Boma for the first time this December...opinions anyone?

One of the best buffets on property. In fact, one of the best restaurants on property!

Soup & Desserts! I could just eat those & be happy. We really enjoy it.

Agree with soups and desserts. Excellent. The rest, no so much, IMO. I prefer Tusker House for an African buffet. The breakfast buffet at Boma, though is one of our favorites.

Loved it, one of our favourites. Booked again for next trip. Desserts :cloud9:

One of our favorites. A must do every visit. We are doing breakfast and dinner for our upcoming trip.

My favorite dinner as far as food selection and quality!

1) $40 for (excellent) soup is ridiculous.
2) Terrible food-to-dollar value.
3) Employees and food critics also agree it is below average.
4) Strange: Golden Corral has more selections, and just $10.

NOTE: When we went, we asked the waiter what was good.
He said soup-soup-soup.
"We have 15 soups with 5 each day."
"Forget everything else, and just do soup!"
"We do meat and veggies poorly."
He was right on three counts.

NOTE: Boma is an outstanding buffet for breakfast.
For dinner it's below average and worth passing by.
African and Middle Eastern foods are typically spiced
with cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, cardamom, etc, which
can make food appear sweet to the taste buds.If doing
dinner, go for the soups, and leave the meats, the
salads, and the desserts for someone else. There now
are fifteen different soups at five per night. Bring out
the ear plugs, as it does get moisy.

Have only had the breakfast buffet.....but it was fantastic!! We've got it planned for our next trip!

Did not like Boma dinner.

We won't return for this meal.

The food was fine, but not our tastes.

The spices they use in EVERY (yes every) dish are things like cinnamon, vanilla and fruit flavors.

The carving station: all the meats were rubbed with cinnamon.
All the sides, veggies, potatoes...etc all had sweet flavors in them. Even the soups were all sweet.
The only thing that was not sweet was the mustard condiment on the carving station and the kids station (nuggets and mac&cheese).

We tried everything on the buffet that night trying to find something we like. Both DH and I aren't very picky and I can eat just beef and potatoes if necessary....but even that couldn't happen there.

By the end of our meal we were so disappointed, and an hour later shared a CS meal...as we were still hungry. What a waste for us.

If you don't have a car it can be tricky getting back to your resort if it is late. Be prepared for a long commute (going to a park, then second shuttle to your resort) or take a taxi! Also, we like to get there early to look at the animals. It is a nice restaurant.

We enjoyed the breakfast; went several times; no characters! However, the ham they were carving was too dry to eat. We never got an omelet because the line was always too long - only had 1 person making omelets for a packed house - every time we went. The rest of the buffet - just the ordinary breakfast food which is ok, but - did I mention - no characters - that's the only reason we go!

Dinner was horrible! The beef they were carving was too dry to eat. The ribs were too tough to eat. The rest was definitely not worth the money or the TS credit, no matter how exotic it made one feel by eating, hmmmm, "African" food in Disney World - right!

We have also only done Boma for breakfast. The buffet is HUGE, and it was good, although we didn't try many of the ethnic dishes. We mostly stuck to the "regular" breakfast items.

We have had a good experience at Boma for dinner years ago and are going to try it again in a few weeks. I remember the hummus spreads, soups, and desserts the most.

We were at WDW the first week of October and we LOVED Boma for dinner! In fact, I wish we would have eaten there more than once.

I liked the chicken, the salmon (super yummy!), the couscous, the bobotie, the watermelon rind salad, the black olive hummus and pita, the zebra domes and, yes, the soups. My husband liked all of the above but he also had the roast pork loin (I think it was pork) which he also liked.

PS: My kids (a 4 year old and a 17 year old) also loved Boma.

:) We love the juice, service has always been good. It is usually packed for breakfast and we have eaten there for that meal twice. I have booked for this Sat morning so my parents can see Jambo's lobby. I do not like the way the buffet is laid out. There is usually a line which I have no problem standing in and waiting patiently. However when we were there on our last trip, people were just walking up to the food instead of standing in line  They also ran out of a couple of items. I returned to my seat empty handed--I wanted the traditional food. So I waited about 10 minutes and went back and came back to the table with plenty. Food was good.

We did eat Sanaa's food in the room in May--too many different spices for our tastes--it was good but only in small quantities--DH and I decided it troubled our tummies too much to eat there again anytime soon. In fact I teased DH by telling him that we were eating there for dinner before MNSSHP--this was his reaction :sick::sad2:

and then my reaction..:rotfl::rotfl2:
