Boma, Jiko, Sanaa

I have yet to hit Sanaa, but I have been to Jiko (after the Safari) and Boma. We LOVED both of them. Don't be afraid to try Boma. It isn't as fancy, and if there are pallates to appease, it is more likely that you can do this at Boma!

No matter what, I am betting you will love whatever you try...I doubt you can really go wrong with AK/AKL food!

We are for sure going to do Sanaa. I am not sure the menu at Jiko appeals to me that much. Still trying to decide about Boma. I might save that for the next family trip and head DTD to try Raglan Road instead.

We ended up eating at Jiko twice last week. Love it.
The both times we sat at "the cooking place," the bar-type place by the wood ovens.
The second time we ordered only appetizers and they were all fantastic!

We like Sanaa too.

Boma I can take or leave. We took the 4PM tour and they give samples (soup and a zebra dome). That was enough for me. Both were really good though. We looked up the recipe for the soup.

Oh, now you're all making me have second thoughts (actually I guess it would be about fourth or fifth thoughts at this point :lmao:).

Just wondering - what about Jiko's menu do you not like? And what about Sanaa's menu do you like? That would help to put it in perspective.

They're both more adventurous than the typical Disney restaurant - Jiko is more upscale and is largely influenced by African cuisine, with some Mediterranean and Indian touches as well. Sanaa is casual, Indian-inspired food with African influences.

Jiko seems to have more seafood and mushrooms (neither of which I like). Also, the day I have available to eat there, is the dinner before we do the Expedition Everest Race, so I am looking for some lighter options. Sanaa seemed to have more sampler-type options so I won't feel like I am running with rocks in my belly.

I also love curry, so Sanaa appeals to me from that perspective.

Jiko has a fair amount of options for people who aren't interested in mushrooms/seafood. There's a good amount of appetizers, a pork entree, peri peri chicken (which is authentically South African and not too spicy), a very good short rib entree, etc. You could always just get 2 or 3 appetizers as your meal if you're worried about the heaviness. But overall, I think you'd enjoy Jiko if you like the more unique flavors.

Here's a pic of the peri peri chicken (very good and not too heavy)
