we are on the dinning plan, so we thaught we would try some resturaunts we dont normally try. we were trying to decide between boma, jiko, or marrakesh. would love to hear some of your experiences. we are a party of 3 and all love to try new foods. :sunny:

I'm not adventurous enough for Boma or Jiko, but really like Restaurant Marrakesh.
:goodvibes

Haven't eaten at Marrakesh, but love Boma and Jiko. Out of the 2, Jiko is a much more elegant experience (but it does take 2 TS credits per person, while Boma only takes 1). Boma is also all-you-can-eat, which can get dangerous if you're like me and like everything on the buffet... :goodvibes

If you're not worried about using two credits per person, Jiko is by far the best of those three. It's our favorite restaurant, on or off property. The food is excellent, service is wonderful, and I just love the South African wine list. :)

If you're looking more towards one credit, I'd go with Boma over Marrakesh. Marrakesh is pretty bland for Middle Eastern food, it's very tamed down for the average American. We've been once and I'm not sure we'll bother. Boma is great for us because it's a lot of the food we eat at home - lentils, couscous, lean meats, salads. For some it's an opportunity to try new things, and the variety is great.

I know I'm in the minority, but we did not like Boma at all. My family eats many kinds of food, but not one of us could find much that we liked at Boma. Marrakesh, on the other hand, is one of our favorites. I don't find anything bland about their food, but everyone has different tastes. I also prefer a sit down meal to a buffet.

On a recent trip we ate at Boma and Marakesh and did a culinary tour of Jiko. Boma was great as always but Marrakesh was a major disapointment. We have eaten at Marrakesh before and really liked it. This time the service and food were really terrible. read my review here:

After touring Jiko we want to try this place the next chance we get. Tried a few appetizers and they were really good.

Funny thing is we were thinking about changing our ADR from Marrakesh to Jiko but unfortunately we didn't follow thru on it.

Jilo is THE best restaurant at WDW in my opinion - food is superb and setting/atmosphere wonderful. Boma had nice food but was very noisy - lots of children running around. Marrakesh is great but for me it would have to be Jiko.

I ate at all three during my Oct trip, and thought Boma was the best, although at Jiko, the service was excellant, and the appetizers were very good. At Boma, the soups, (butternut squash, and the crab soup,) were excellant, and the desserts were wonderful. Marrakesh, had extremely slow service, and the food was just all right, although I did think the chicken kebabs were tasty.

Marrakesh is one of our favorites, though its been a few years since we've made time for it. I think its the most adventurous of the three. Its also the most convieinent if you aren't staying at the AKL. The Lodge is beautiful, but dinner there if you are staying somewhere else is really out of the way.

Jiko is expensive. I don't think I ordered well, and we must have gotten the one bad server at Jiko, but my husband loved his meal and mine was well prepared. We will go again, but this time I'll stick to steak or fish.

Boma I didn't like, but I think it was the hype here as much as anything. That and I don't like buffets in general. The soups were good, but it was an expensive meal for soup.

We love Jiko. Great food and wine. Always had excellent service here. Never been to Boma - its right next door to my favorite Jiko! We also really like Marrakesh. We have had very attentive service and we enjoy the food. I love the Chicken Bastilla.

Have a fun trip.

We went to Marrakesh and Boma during our Christmas 2005 vacation. It depends on what you are looking for. In terms of food, if you're not a very adventurous eater, you may like Boma better. Since it's a buffet, there are lots of choices and different foods to try. If you do not like the African food, there are also "normal" foods, such as pasta and salads. On the other hand, you mentioned you are all adventurous eaters, I think this restaurant is a good choice. We had a great time here (also a party of three), the dessert table was fabulous!

Marrakesh was fun, but I must say that the food is kind of boring. The menu doesn't have a lot of choices. The atmosphere is fun, but I like AKL's atmosphere better. I think you get more for your money at Boma than at Marrakesh, but that's my own personal opinion.

Hope this helped and let me know where you all end up!

We had a lovely meal at Jiko in Jan., and I would strongly recommend it! If you have a kid, the selections on the children's menu include broiled salmon (which my dd9 ordered and ate every bite of) and filet. My dh had a delicious filet and I LOVED my tilefish. My dh commented that the restaurant felt like we were in an upscale, city place (somewhat unusual for WDW!).

Have a great trip!
