Lookinginto possible eating at BOMAS since we will be staying at AKV.. my kids and myself are pretty picky eaters. The breakfast looked pretty good but how is the dinner? Is there anything American??

Dinner at Boma is probably not the best option for picky eaters looking for "American" food. Check out the menu. Boma has an incredible menu-but based on your post, it doesn't seem like your kind of thing....

I've been on allears.net looking over the menu several times and have the same concerns as you. I've heard good reviews about Boma and saw they have chicken tenders and spaghetti I think. I've also heard you can use night vision goggles to look at the animals on the savana. Do you know more about that? My boys would think that's cool!!

We had breakfast there which was fantastic. We also had dinner there also very good. My DS(AKA the bar food eater)is extremely picky. If it's not something you could find in a bar or steak he's really not interested.LOL He ate there. He seemed ok. I would say stick with breakfast if you're concerned...oh and try the Jungle juice...yummy:thumbsup2

I think Boma has great food, and there are some things like chicken tenders, fries, and pizza on the menu, which I think is great for kids. If everyone in your party is really picky and not so much into trying new things, it might not bee the place for you. However, if you are willing to step out of your comfort zone, you may find that you really like some of the food. They do have things like prime rib, beef and pork ribs, breads, salads...It is really African inspired food not true African food. The buffet is huge. It is likely you would find something you will like.

We stayed at AKL and it was on our list to do but never happened. It is something you can do I forget where you go.So ask at the desk I'm sure they can direct you or someone else will come on here and know:)

The only thing we enjoyed at Boma was the desserts. Good decision on changing if you are picky eaters

My son and I are the family's picky eaters. DS never touches a vegetable other than fries and I am not too keen on spicy dishes. We went to Boma for the 4th time in January and it was the awesome. There was great steak that night that DS and I both ate and we tried some more exotic dishes.
My DH and DD loved a chance to spice up their meal. The desserts were amazing.
I would recommend it at least once.

My youngest son is pretty picky, with nuggets, pizza and pasta being staples. He LOVES Boma, in fact it's his second request, after Chef Mickey's.

I love going to Boma everytime we go to the World. The rest of my family (wife and three kids) complain every time. Last time I vowed that I wasn't going to pay top dollar for my picky family to just eat those zebra cookies that I can buy in the grab n go restaurant.

We love Boma......my oldest is a very picky eater and Boma is one of his favorite places to eat at Disney :goodvibes. The buffet has some very unique things, but it also has American things like chicken nuggets/tenders, french fries, ribs, etc. ;).

I heard the food is incredible at BOMA. A friend at work goes and he has 2 little girls. I don't think their family is very picking though. I would locate the menu and make your decision based on the type of food for your family.

:)

The children's station is very bland foods. Chicken nuggets, pasta with sauce, pizza. Pretty much like the other buffets. So if they eat that then you may be safe with them.

I would warn though, while Boma has good food, it isn't for everyone.

We did NOT like it. Nothing wrong with the foods, the service was fine...it is the spices. I had thought since everyone said it was spicey that it was "hot, pepper" type spices.

NOPE, the spices they use are sweet in nature. Cinnamon, vanillas, fruit flavors in everything. And I do mean everything.
The meats were rubbed with cinnamon, the potatoes, the veggies all had an overwhelming sweet flavor. Even the soups were sweet. DH and I felt like we were having a holiday dessert for dinner.
By the time we got to the desserts we didn't want any, way to much sweetness.

The tastes just weren't for us. Later that night we had to grab CS and split it. Such a waste of a TS for us.

We LOVE Boma! Breakfast is amazing- all the staples but some more exotic dishes as well. The juices are delicious. Dinner is a staple every year for us. My kids are picky as well. They still tend to eat from the "children's" section at Boma but sometimes try minor things like a rice or roasted chicken. We try and do as many buffets as possible to accomodate my picky ones! If they don't like something- they can try something else. The buffets always have fruit as well like watermelon and grapes. That always rounds out the kids options in my eyes.

I agree with the PP about the spices, everything was sweet and oddly spiced for my gang. We went with a party of six, two adults, three teens and one 8 year old. No one in our party was happy and we ended up eating pizza later that night. They do have a kids bar with nuggets, fries and pasta. We are generally not picky and are big meat eaters so I thought we would enjoy it. It is not for everyone. Honestly, for the price of the meal, we felt it was a very costly failed experiment : (
