Boma dinner with fussy kids

My boys are VERY fussy and dont' like to try new things. We are staying at AKL and I thought it would be fun to eat there, but am afraid it would be a waste of a TS credit if they weren't going to enjoy it or come away full. Should we book somewhere else or give it a whirl?

Go ahead and book it. The buffet is divided into pods. The kids' pod has the standards like macaroni and cheese, etc. The food there, especially the soups, is great, and it would be a shame to miss, since you are staying there.

Agreed!! All the buffets have "normal" kid stuff! Hubby even got some mac and cheese and chicken nuggets off the kids buffet when we were there. Boma is very good and very family friendly! I'd love to do it again but hubby wasn't impressed. I loved the atmosphere of it!

Like the PP's suggested, you'll be fine. The kids will have a base of "kid staples" and they can venture out and try something new if they feel the desire to do so. You're guaranteed that they'll fill up on the staples. (Which are the same at Boma as they are at Crystal Palace)

We are two non fussy adults and we didnt like it at all...they did have chicken nuggets...there were kids sitting next to us and DH and I commented on what a waste it was because all they ate were strawberries, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and chocolate chip cookies.

Boma has the world's best chicken fingers. Or they used to. Maybe they're nuggets now. If they taste the same they're worth it.

I love Boma and I'll eat anything else they have but I still have to get at least one chicken finger.

Ahh, but stawberries, mac n cheese, chicken nuggets and chocolate chip cookies would be my kids dream meal anywhere! So eating at any sit down place is a waste of money on our 4 year old, but we do it anyway so that we can have the experience.

We had our kids with us there in July. They were very happy with mac and cheese, as they were at the other buffets. Same basic kid food as the other Disney buffets and Boma is great to try at least once since it is so unique.

For dessert, most of the desserts had alcohol in them, but my kids were more than happy with the assorted cookies they had on the dessert buffet. Go and try it!

Neither the adults nor kids in our party really liked Boma at dinner. We don't tend to be picky eaters, but didn't enjoy the food at all. We didn't even care for the desserts. They were beautiful, but not really good.

My kids are boring eaters. They will always order a burger and fries or chicken fingers and fries.... At Boma they actually tried many new different things. I was quite proud of them for trying things that were new to them. They really enjoyed the experience of the buffet and picking what they wanted to eat. We will be back next year...

I'm just back from our last minute Disney trip and DSIL and I enjoyed Boma. We saw many families with children and that night chicken fingers were on the buffet and looked great. I think they also had fries, but can't swear to it because I was too busy going back to the soup station. The coconut curry chicken soup was fabulous! I must mention we were not on the dining plan and did think it was worth the price. The only negative in our meal was the coffee. Yuck! I drink alot of coffee, but whatever that blend was could grow hair on a rock. Good luck with your decision.

We loooooved Boma, but our kids are not picky eaters. As others have said, there should be plenty for those who are, though.

We got there early and we were Family of the Day - we got announced to the others, were paraded to our seats with drums, and got a little certificate. It was a neat little surprise.

I'll bet if you never tell your kids what kind of food Boma has, they will enjoy it.

My brother-in-law is a very picky eater (he's 47 years old!) and I was concerned about taking him to Boma. I had showed the menu to my mother-in-law and she verified he would like things on the menu BUT to not tell him I thought the food was "exotic". He never knew anything about the place other than it was a buffet. He really enjoyed himself.

It's like when I serve a meatless dish to my husband. I don't tell him until after he's done eating and then casually mention he had no meat. He never realizes it.

I am a very picky eater and I came away pretty satisfied from Boma. I ate plain meat ( no sauces), chicken and french fries for dinner then really filled up on dessert. The banana bread pudding was to die for and the cookies were so good I swiped a few to bring back to my room for later!

Many of the desserts have alcohol in them. They are not made of alcohol. Your kids will not even notice.

As for the buffet, there is plenty for picky eaters but you are not getting the full experience. I would recommend it is time you start teaching your children to try new things. Most children are not naturally adventurous, they need to be encouraged.

That would be DD's dream buffet, and I'd be thrilled that fruit was being ingested. Sounds like a win-win to me.

We have ressies for our March trip. I'm looking forward to it.

If you want to try it yourself, I say definitely go for it! YUM, it is so good! The boys will find things they like. My DD (6 at the time) is a normal kid eater, not too adventurous, but she even managed to try some new things along with the usual kid food.

When I was booking ADRs for our upcoming trip, I tried to book all new places since we haven't been to many yet, but DD requested (and I wholeheartedly agreed) that Boma should be our one repeat.
