Help! My dad comes down here next Friday (I hope) and he wants to go to his favorite resturant, Boma. Unfortunately, it's not mine, and I have eaten there 2x in the past 3 months, most recently last week. I suggested breakfast - has anyone done this? Is it any different than the breakfast buffet at say Chef Mickey's?

There are no characters, as at Chef Mickey's.

From Deb's website......... Menu Date: July 2004

Breakfast Served 7:30 - 11 a.m.

Adults $14.99, Children 3-11 $7.99

Boma is a family restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. It will capture the essence of vibrant life in the African marketplace. This family-fun buffet restaurant provides guests the ability to savor the African experience, which has multicultural influences. The restaurant showcases an exhibit kitchen, wood-burning grill and rotisserie.

This is an all you can eat experience, but unlike traditional buffet lines, where you start at one end and work your way across...Boma offers "pods". Each pod has a selection of food and generally a chef nearby to answer questions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast features over 45 different items!

Your Choice of Orange Juice or West African Frunch (a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice).

Pastries - muffins, breads, almond bear claw, scones, assortment of cream cheeses including sundried tomato, bagels, Danish, and zebra bread

Seasonal Fresh Fruits - cantaloupe, honeydew, mango, papaya, grapes, strawberries, and pineapple.

Dried Fruits including mango, papaya, coconut

Cereals - granola, rice crispies, fruit loops, and raisin bran

Pancakes and Waffles

Omelets made to order with a selection of ingredients.

Bacon and Sausage and Ham

Potatoes with red and green pepper and paprika

Scrambled Eggs

Brioche (like French toast, yummmy! with raisins)

Pap (white corn meal), oatmeal, quinoa porridge; toppings included fruits, brown sugar and cinnamon

Bobotie - corn beef, eggs, cream, potato and onion

Vegetable and Meat Lovers Breakfast Pizza

Cured pork loin

Carved Breakfast Ham

Pressed Pot of Kenyan Coffee - Extra

Probably a bit more "comprehensive" than Chef Mickeys. They have carved pork loin, which I love!! Also Kenya AA coffee.

Hi,

Definately the place to go for breakfast! Really good. Enjoy!

Allison

its our fav. breakfast buffet, the house juice is to die for

We were just there a couple of weeks ago. Everything we had was excellent, especially the banana bread and scones. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the advice, I think we will have to try it this coming Saturday. Dad thought it would be a basic breakfast buffet. I guess he was wrong! Like I said, I have been there for dinner, so I know the experience, but wasn't sure if the food was going to be different. Thanks for your help!

:)

I'm staying CL at AKL the last two days, and am now looking wistfully at this, thinking NO you can't squander your breakfasts at the lounge, that was how you justified the increase to CL!!!!

Looks fabulous, hope that awesome juice is in the lounge!

They at least used to have the wonderful juice in the concierge lounge, but that was a few years ago.

How long does breakfast take at Boma? If we're trying to get to AK in time to be at the gate before 9AM opening, what time should we make PS for? We will have a car. What time do they start serving?

Thanks, T&B

no he's right , the only really "exotic" stuff was one hot cereal ( like watery farina) and a corned beef and egg combo with curry favor ( i like different food but this was lousy). imo basically the same as any other wdw buffet. the coffee was ok, nothing exceptional.( the press pot i mean) i was really disappointed cause i expected african food and got the usual american buffet....oh well at least it wasn't quite as expensive as some. i might try dinner sometime but now husband refuses to go since we usually do not like buffets for dinner and he didn't think this breakfast one was all that great either. it's not that the food was bad, just ordinary

We went on Saturday and he loved it. They had some basic stuff, but some exotic foods as well. I had some of the potato wedges (until I tasted it & it was way too spicey for me). He had two tall glasses of the house jucie (pinapple, mango & orange mixed together - it was good).

Thanks, everyone! I would recommend this to anyone, esp. for $14.95 a head!

Glad you enjoyed it! This thread talked me into a PS there for breakfast during our stay!

!

mind telling me what they had different? i'm wondering if they changed the menu back to more exotic stuff ( which i might try again if they did, figured we'd give dinner a try this time since wondering if we just fit a bad time ( our only "expensive" dinner this time and hope i am not disappointed again or i will ! )

We're trying to be at the AK gate before they open at 9am. If we get the first PS time (7:30am) do you think we'll have time to eat, drive to AK, park, and be at the gate before opening? We want to have plenty of time to eat breakfast, but don't need to sit around having a leisurely breakfast, either.

when you call for your ps you can ask how busy they look since it's only a week away. when we went in Jan it was pretty empty and we went about 8:30-9 which i would think would be more popular than 7:30. since it's abuffet there isn't really much of a wait for your food. that would give you an hr to be at the gate by 8:30 so that should be fine unless you happen to get wait.

Thanks, Jann! We should be in good shape if we get there at 7:30. I think an hour will be plenty of time and it won't take us long to get to AK. If we have a few extra minutes we can always look at the animals. We'll be back there for dinner, too. I'm getting hungry just thinking about all this food!
