Boma Breakfast... what is so good about it?

We're preparing ourselves to make the trek over to Boma for breakfast on our next trip. We love breakfast and I find breakfast buffets are one of the best ways to make sure everyone in my family gets at least one good meal. I hear many, many good reviews of Boma breakfast, but typically people just say "Boma is the best!" or something along those lines. I'd like to know what you specifically think sets it apart from other breakfast buffets on property. WHY is it worth a trip?

Thank you!

Atmosphere. The jungle juice (or whatever it's called).

We stopped by for breakfast before driving home on our last trip. I haven't tried any other breakfast locations yet (been to Boma breakfast twice), so I can't compare. We did this one partly because we get a discount on the Disney visa, and also we just love a reason to visit this resort. I really enjoyed it, but it may have the same food offerings as every other place plus just a couple special items with more ethnic seasoning.

The juice is the only "special" thing that I know of for sure.

I forgot about the Disney Visa discount! Thanks for reminding me. :D

They have or had a French toast bread pudding with caramel sauce and pecans that was one of the best things I have ever eaten. I even emailed for the recipe after I got home!
I second this one! BEST EVER!!

I agree! I went for breakfast and dinner. In both cases they had food that looked familiar but tasted a little bit different -- in a delicious sort of way. Also, AKL is worth the trip.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Especially at Disney, I try to eat a bigger breakfast so I have the energy for the day, and smaller dinner. Boma is not only my favorite brunch place, but it is probably my favorite Disney restaurant. In my opinion, Animal Kingdom lodge and its restaurants are the most intricately themed resorts at Disney. The food quality is always fresh and delicious. I'm lucky live in a city with a wide variety of great restaurants. Boma has unique food items that you can't find elsewhere on Disney property or even outside Disney. However, the buffet has familiar items for those less adventurous eaters.

Ok, I'm going to get shot down and flamed for what I'm about to say. I'm of the opinion there is no such thing that makes a buffet "so good." Mass produced food prepared for large groups of people and sitting at serving stations to be scooped up cannot be "so good." The best a buffet can achieve is average; There are very few that can do this, but to Boma's credit they do achieve being average, and coming from me that is a big compliment. With so many of the buffets in WDW failing to be even remotely edible (can we say Chef Mickey), Boma does stand out and is Disney's best. Again just my opinion.

The Boma kitchen is open to view. The chefs are preparing the food in front of you. You obviously don't cook or pay attention. Pay attention to how the food is prepared next time and tell me that they are not providing a professional level of food preparation on a large scale.

I'm assuming you are directing this toward me. Obviously you MISSED that I said in my opinion mass produced food cannot be better than average and I will stand by that opinion. Yes it's an open kitchen, yes you can see it, but it still does not change my opinion that Boma is average, which is pretty good for a buffet. As for your statement that I obviously don't cook or pay attention, how wrong you are... My culinary skills are excellent and have had some training in my past. I could pass insult as you did, but I won't. It's a matter of opinion which is something it seems you have failed to realize here.

Add me to the votes for the bread with the caramel sauce. It is SO good!!! The juice is good too. I'm neither a breakfast nor a juice person but Boma breakfast is the exception for both for me.

Plus, you can go out and view the animals. My two boys loved it!

While Boma is my favorite Disney buffet, and we don't hesitate to have either breakfast or dinner there, I kind of have to agree with goofy4prez. As buffets go ( for quality and variety of foods), Boma is definitely top rung at WDW. But compared to non buffet TS restaurants, you really can't rate the quality as much more than average. And that, IMO, is the best that can be expected when you are trying to supply mass quantities of food, and then keep it resupplied and "fresh". This isn't a criticism of Boma. They do a very good job within the constraints they have to work with.

Boma breakfast is a family favorite. Location is #1 for us. The fact that it's NOT a character meal. And the more specialized dishes that you don't get anywhere else.

NOT a character meal is a huge selling point for us as well!
