Hi everyone, just returned from a great extra long weekend in the World! We really enjoyed everything (especially MVMCP!!!!) with the exception of Boma for breakfast. I think maybe I was expecting more and was let down because of it. Also, we went last Sunday Dec 14 and it was pouring rain so maybe more than your average attendance but let me tell you it was really the worst meal overall of our stay. It was crowded, noisy, we waited 10 minutes for milk for my little boy. People were butting in line left right and center. I felt like I was in a themed cafeteria. The food itself was good, i loved the amazing banana bread and my kids devoured the strawberries(after I picked through the bad ones) . It just wasn't good enough to rise above what we felt was a very overcrowded restaurant. I totally understand that this can happen at a popular buffet as I am a big time foodie and have enjoyed restaurants around the globe, but I feel the value for the money is not there because it is just too hectic. After standing in line in all the parks, I do not want to stand in line for 3 minutes or be pushed and shoved just to get my own food. I know I am ranting but I just had heard so much great stuff about Boma and was so eager to go! Oh well, at least I got my Dole Whip on Saturday without too much fuss!

Do the crowds begin immediately? If we got there when it opened at 7:00 a.m., would it be as hectic?

It is hard to say about when the crowds begin. We went at 9:15 for a 9:30 ressie anticipating it to be fairly crowded and we wanted to take in a bit of the AK lodge atmosphere. We were not seated until 9:40! Keep in mind we were there in off season!!! The Lodge itself is really cool, I loved the lights and the soaring lobby so waiting around was done in style at least. I would think it would be much less crowded the earlier you went, but then again you could encounter people who are trying to eat early to get into the parks early. Good luck...

If we got there when it opened at 7:00 a.m.,

Boma opens at 7:30 - FYI.

Boma is a decent breakfast, but nothing spectacular. Then again, I rarely find breakfast "spectacular". I think it was probably the rain that had it so crowded. My DD and I were at AK and it was empty - we had a private safari due to lack of crowds. What a wet morning!!!

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find being seated 10 minutes after your PS time that unreasonable. And given the weather and the crowd, 10 minutes for milk is almost understandable as well. I'm sure the servers had their hands full.

Now pushing and shoving is certainly uncalled for. I don't think I've been to a buffet anywhere that there weren't rude people butting in lines, for some reason that comes with the territory of buffets. Even nice bruches for that matter. But even with that being said, I think a 3 minute wait is certainly acceptable.

Sorry you didn't like Boma. The food sounds good though!

We ate there for breakfast and dinner since we were staying at the hotel and figured we should give it a try since we are there.

We had breakfast the first day and it was around 10:30 or so. Everyone was finishing up and it was not crowded at all.

They still had plenty of food and everything looked pretty - not picked over.

We thought our server was a bit slow but also figured it was at the end of his shift. Even so he was most pleasant and courteous. Even though it was our first time there we knew enough(from these boards) to ask for the FRUNCH right away and he just laughed at us like we were old timers.

I liked the fact they had meats there and the sausages were devine. I am not a breakfast eater so Chef Mickey's will always be my favorite (cause they have all kinds of KRIPY KREME'S and hot brownies - now that's a breakfast) :teeth:

We have eaten at bomas for both breakfest and dinner and we also did not enjoy breakfest but LOVED dinner!!

I posted when Boma's was about 6 months old and we too, won't be back for breakfast, unless we wee with someone who just had to try it. Our waiter finally went back to get us omelets..since we refused to be pushed or shoved any longer in the omelet line. It's as if we weren't standing there...people just came up and butted, or yelled their order from the back. We didn't eat too much (maybe that's a good thing) and felt we didn't our money's worth, because we couldn't stand the crowd at the food..or the kids touching and putting back. One little girl licked a strawberry, and her mom smacked her hand and told her to put it back. She did LOL!
I always think it's a noisy place, although when we went back for dinner on one of our trips this past year, they seemed ot have drapped stuff near the ceiling, and it held the noise down some.

We enjoyed Boma very much for breakfast and would love to return one day. Our PS was for 10am on a very rainy Wednesday in November, but we arrived at 9:30 and seats were available so we sat immediately. It was not crowded at all. I would agree that our server, while polite, was very slow and inattentive.

I was at AKL on Dec 14 and it was super crowded ... there were lots and lots of people inside, I think mostly because it was raining but I noticed that most of them were leaving.

We ate at Boma on Dec 16 for breakfast around 9:30AM and it practically empty. It was less than 1/3 full and we were seated right away. The breakfast itself was okay ... but I'll have to say it was nothing special. One station had African themed items but the rest of the buffet was standard fare -- fruit, pastries, eggs, sausage... I didn't get a chance to try to omlette station.

Even though the service was really good... our waiter came back and forth to our table several times to clear plates and check if we had enough coffee/Frunch ... I'm not sure if we'd go back. There was nothing that really stood out for us there. I think I'd rather spend a little more and go to a character meal like Chef Mickey's or just spend a little less and eat counter service like The Mara.

Hmm, I am just wondering what FRUNCH is??? Can anyone help out? We are having breakfast there in 1 week!!!

frunch is a wonderful juice. can't remember now what exactly the juices were included, but will say it is very good. it was the only highlight of our breakfast.

I just had breakfast again at Boma's two weeks ago and thought it was wonderful! I'd definitely go again.

As far as your wait goes, a priority seating is not a reservation. A priority seating means that you will be seated at the next available table for your party size. A 10 minute wait is not bad at all.

I've been to Crystal Palace at MK, which is very popular, and have had to wait 30 minutes.
