We will be staying at AK Villas for the first time in February and am trying to decide where to make ADR’s. I think I can manage at Boma’s but I am worried about my DH who does not eat veggies so he won’t eat soups or stews. I see on the menu list on this website that they list wood roasted meats but what meats do they usually have? Is prime rib usually an option? Do they have a potato available without onions or veggies? For those that don’t eat veggies or soup and stews…are you able to find something to eat?

There is meat (prine rib?) and salmon. Some sort of potatoe. And the picky people can probably find something at the kid's end of the buffet.

I found the flavors at Boma absolutely fascinating! And ever so yummy...

According to the kids menu, they list the exact same items as the adult menu :confused3 so I figured that they didn't have the usual kids items like chicken fingers.

That sounds pretty picky. It is difficult to gauge how picky you actually mean but I would say from your description that Boma would probably be a waste of money for you. It is one of our favorite places to eat, but if you think that one of you may just be eating the kids fare then I would suggest going somewhere else. In my opinion there isn't a whole lot of ambiance or experience to be had at Boma, it is not a quiet romantic dinner. We treated our wedding guests to a pre-wedding dinner there and it was great but no one was really picky about the food. There was one kid about 4 years old she ate from the kids and adult selections without incident. You can also try the Jiko if your DH wants to be able to specify exactly what he would or would not like. Plus you would have a meal that is more of an experience for the two of you.

Last year for Christmas Day Boma was the only TS available when I booked (in Sept. due to visa free dining coming out then). I was leary from the beginning due to mixed reviews but didn't have much choice. It was me, DH, DD15, and DS11. We loved the atmosphere but absolutely hated the food. There wasn't much of anything any of us would eat other than the desserts. The lines were very long. We are pretty much meat, potatoes, and pasta people, anything American beyond that we aren't too adventerous. The couple next to us couldn't believe how little we ate for the cost. I then told them we were on free dining. They also said it was the only place they could get a ressie at also. We went to the food court later that night and ate dinner there. No Boma for us ever again. One Christmas dinner we'll definitely remember:laughing:

:)Thanks for the replies. I think we have decided to skip Boma. Hopefully we will have a rental car so we can easily go off site to eat.

I'm the picky one in the family, and I've never been brave enough to book it for dinner. However, we ate there twice for breakfast last trip. It was AMAZING!!!! It's easily the best breakfast on-site (and we've done most of them now - lol).

I would say if you have a picky or non adventurous eater, I would agree skipping Boma. They don't serve anything off the wall. But when I take picky eaters to some place out of their comfort zone, they never really seem to enjoy the meal.

We just dinned there a few days ago. One of our favorites, but, we like flavorful food. By no means are we bland eaters. It is one of our favorites. There was a family there complaining because there was no normal food ;)
So, Thumbs up if you like flavor. :thumbsup2
