Boma alone with 3yo?

Alright all you Boma fans (and anyone with a little one). I almost exclusively travel to Disney alone with my DD who will be 3.5yo during our Oct trip. I have contemplated going to Boma on several trips and am doing so again. However, I just can't decide if it is something I should do yet. DD is usually very happy to sit through a table service meal with me and is not a picky eater. However, will Boma be asking too much of her? I've never been to AKL even so I don't know if the atmosphere would suit our small party yet.

So...what do you all think? Try it now or save it for a few years down the line?

Personally, I don't like buffets with little kids. And its worse when the adults don't outnumber the kids (it wasn't bad traveling with Grandma and Grandpa - traveling with two little kids and just my DH and I wasn't good). Other people seem to have a better system. I just spend my entire meal going back and forth to the buffet.

DD5 and I have been going to Boma on just about every trip since she was 4. It's one of her favorite places. The food is fantastic. Buffets aren't the easiest when you are alone with your child, but it can be done.

I haven't done Boma, but I took my 3.5 year old to buffets 3 times at Chef Mickeys and once at Crystal Palace and it was fine. If anything I liked it better because I was able to get the food right away and my DS didn't have time to get impatient waiting to be served.

Boma pros: No time to wait for food, wide selection, child friendly foods, great little desserts, cool atmosphere, you can get there early, look at the animals on the Savannah and walk around the resort, sit by the fire pit, etc.

Cons: If you're alone, you would have to make multiple trips. You would have to juggle helping her and serving yourself.

I would explain this at the hostess desk and specifically ask for a table as close as possible to the buffet. Yes, you might have people walking around your table, but in your situation, I think that would be the easiest way to enjoy Boma.

If the plates are too heavy for her to hold without the possibility of a "drop", try a bowl or a dessert plate, so that she can help out and you won't have to carry food for all of you.

Thank you everyone for your input. Buffets as a whole don't bother me. We usually do at least 2-3 of them with character meals. My concern is more the atmosphere and whether it is more "adult", but from the noise level I have heard about maybe I won't worry.

Laura - is that a Maclaren in your sig picture? Your DS looks about the size of my DD, maybe bigger. How does that stroller work for you? Do you know the upper limit? I have been considering getting one for DD, but can't decide whether to spend the money.

Yes, it's a MacLaren Triumph. I've had it for almost a year and love it. It's rated up to 55 lbs. My DS is about 42-43" and 42 lbs now and does just fine with it. It maneuvers really well, and is so easy to take everywhere with a one-arm fold and carry strap attached to it. I definitely recommend it.

Aww man, now I think I may have to do it! DD is 37-38" and 35lbs. We walk everywhere at home so a good stroller is necessary, but our PlikoP3 is just so big anymore and ackward to load on buses at home (opened) and a pain to fold and load by myself in WDW. I think that I may need to check out the Triumph. I figure one trip's rentals would almost cover the cost so maybe it's not a bad idea.
