Our trip is a week away and we have ressies at Boma at 7:30 on a Wed. We thought we'd do AK that day but it closes at 5:00. Is there anything we can do for a couple of hours in that area or should we do a different park that day and arrive right around 7:30 for our dinner? Thanks!

Normally the park doesn't close immediately. I think you can still hop on the Safari ride right up until 5pm. You could take your time and enjoy the scenery- look in some shops, meander through the Oasis... Then when you get to the AKL check in at Boma (let them know you know you are early) and explore the resort until dinner time. You might get lucky and they can seat you earlier.

OR.... if you are park hoppers, stay at AK until 2pm then go somewhere else for a couple of hours then back to the AKL. If you try to do this at 5pm it won't give you much time at your destination before you have to turn back around. Its a lot of transportation and moving but if you don't think you'll be able to kill the time between the park closing and your ADR it might be a good option.

OR... Have you checked to see if they have any earlier ADRs?

You can also explore the AKL and go out on the savannah if you're eating at Boma. Our AK day will likely be the day we eat at Boma, and we're planning on visiting the lodge and checking out the savannah before we eat.

They might have earlier ADRS, to tell you the truth. My trip is next week, I made a ressie for Boma breakfast just three days ago and got the time I wanted. :) If not, I agree with what flynnmnstr said! :)

The AKL has lots of amazing displays that you can look at. Even if you get out of AK meandering trough at about 5:30 it will take you till almost 6 to get to AKL. They have all kinds of neat stuff in their gift shop, then you tour the Savanah area and look for animals, then walk around and look at the displays inside. Then it will be time to check in. I think that you will have a great time. I know we did and worrying about missing a night show or anything made it even better.

can you go "exploring the savannah" in the dark?

A little off topic - but have any adults taken part in the story times there? :hyper2:
