I was just looking at the categorized food pictures thread and came across all the photos of the food that is served at Boma. It all looks delicious, and from the pics, all of the food were labeled, but I wouldn't know what they were or what was in them just by the name over the food. Does it explain somewhere on the menu what all the foods are, or is there someone around you can ask?

Boma is my absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. Both times that I have been there the servers have been wonderful and will answer questions or recommend items to try. And both times there were folks behind the buffet who would answer questions and I think there were even little signs telling about the food. You can also check the recipe threads. But I would also recommend NOT finding out all the ingredients until you've tried some things--unless you have allergies. There were some things I probably would not have tried had I known everything that was in them first. And then I would have missed out on a fabulous dining experience.

As the prior poster mentioned, the servers and chefs at Boma are always happy to answer questions and make suggestions. It's an open kitchen, and they're constantly refelling and checking the buffet so its easy to talk to the chefs.

Have you checked out the menus here on the DIS or allearsnet.com? Both have pretty good listings about what's offered at Boma.

Hope you get a chance to go and enjoy Boma. It truly is one of the more unique offerings at WDW, and also gives you a chance to check out the Lodge itself.

No, I haven't checked out the menu yet. I think I'll do that now. I made reservations during our trip and I am really excited to go and eat some interesting cuisine, and explore the resort. I really wanted to stay there, but I decided to save money by staying in a value and spending the extra money on extras at the park and spending more money on food and souvenirs. Do you have any favorite foods at Boma that you absolutely loved?

My favorite would have to be the soups. They have 5 different soups each day. The Carrot Ginger, Butternut Squash, She-Crab, and Curried Seafood Stew are amazing.

The hummus and salad selections are always good. The watermelon rind salad is a must try (kind of reminds me of cucumber salad). Love the rotisserie chicken and the bobotie, which is sort of like a lamb or beef pie with a cornbread topping.

Desserts: chocolate mousse crunch and bread pudding with vanilla sauce.

Here's a link to a thread with an example of a recent night's offerings:

Boma is hands down my favorite restaurant at WDW and they have what I consider the best coffee. If you are a coffee drinker get the press pot.

I will second the watermelon rind salad...I "accidentally" tried it my first trip there, and I absolutely LOVE it! It has ginger in it, and its amazing!
