BOG question...

If I get a ressie for say 2 can I bring a 3rd with us?

Hard to say. BOG is the hot ticket now and booked well in advance. You might get turned away, or you might have to wait longer until a table that can accommodate you becomes available. I don't think there are tables for 3, so you will have to wait until a table for 4 is available.

You can try. You might have to wait longer, or the third person MIGHT be turned away. This is rare, but you should decide what you are going to do if it happens. If you all walk away from the reservation, the $10 per person no show fee kicks in.

I sure do not mind waiting a bit if I had too do so.

Well, that's only one possibility. What will you do if BOG says they will only seat 2 of you since that's all you reserved? While CMs will do their best to accommodate you, if the restaurant is fully booked your extra person could be turned away. Also, we were at one restaurant that was running behind schedule so walk ups, extra people not on the reservation and parties arriving late were all turned away.

You can check online daily to see if a cancellation for 3 (or 4 if there is no 3) comes up. Cancellations re-enter the ADR system almost immediately so it's a matter of luck that you're checking just as one comes up. You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread for your month that is on the Reservations sub-board.

I would rather try my best to find a res that will ensure my entire party will be seated, rather than hope it'll work out.

When we ate there our party of 2 table left ZERO room on the sides to add anyone. We were almost eating with the table next to us. That is one thing I didn't care for at BOG.
Not like that anywhere else we have eaten, except LeCellier we were actually sharing a booth with another family. For the price they charge and the fact it was our "actual" 30th Anniversary, we haven't returned.

They also have to contend with fire codes. If the restaurant is filled to capacity, they can't let anyone else in. Maybe you will be able to snag a cancellation!

I had planned a trip for me and my mom last May. My husband had said he couldn't go (as one of his coworkers were already off that week for health reasons), so I made ADRs for two (including one at BoG). About a month before we were due to leave, my husband was able to get off work afterall and decided to join us. I tried several times a day for that month to get an ADR for three, but was unable to do so. We decided to go ahead and show up to see if they could add him, but had also decided that if they couldn't, it wouldn't be a big deal and he'd just go get a pork shank over at Gaston's Tavern and we'd meet up afterwards. When we were checking in, there was a large party a couple of people ahead of us, who was loudly arguing about adding three people to their party. They were really insistent and obnoxious to the CM. Apparently they were told it was not possible and finally some of the party stalked off (actually more than the three that had been denied entry). The rest went on across the bridge. When it was our turn to check in, the CM asked if she could help us. I laughed and told her I had a reservation for two, but my husband's boss decided at the last minute to be nice and let him off. However, I had not been able to change my and my mom's ADR to three people and was hoping he could dine with us, but I understood if they couldn't and it would not be a big deal. I'd just send him over to Gaston's. The CM laughed and made a comment about 'no, there was no way the Beast would be so inhospitable and they definitely did not want him having to dine with that nasty Gaston and to let her see what she could do'. She almost immediately gave us a beeper and sent us over the bridge. The people who had tried to add three people to their large party were standing up there and still fussing about some of their party being turned away and how they all should have left. One woman said there was no way they were paying $10.00 a piece for being a no show. One of the men, argued that they did show up and it wasn't their fault Disney wouldn't seat them, so no way could they possibly charge them as no shows. The woman told him he could leave if he wanted to, but she and her family were staying and she'd warned them about trying to add the other family.

Anyway, my long winded point is, I guess it depends on the CM, how polite you are, how many people you are wanting to add, and the fire codes limits of course.

Well it sounds like you had good luck. I am going to call WDW to see if we can add it. It took for ever just to get the ressie we have now and it was just luck. If not the hubby says he will eat at Gastons as well...lol
