ok-- so our MK day, the park opens at 9. there is an 8:50 BOG reservation open. so its just barely pre-rope drop. how early will they let us in the park? will we be able to get into the restaurant to eat before our ADR time (say, 8:20/8:30??)
or does that late of an ADR kind of defeat the whole purpose of a pre rope drop ADR? ( beating the crowds a little bit??)

Keep checking the res times. I just got a CRT for mid-July using the Touring Plans Res finder. It's been full for a long time.

You might be able to get an earlier time.

They will let you in with the early crowd.
I thought this too and also have an 8:50am ADR but have been told lately by several people here on the boards to not count on getting in with everyone else and that, depending on the mood of the CM that morning, we may be held back until park opening time since our ADR is after 8:30am. I have seen zero reports of this anywhere stating that someone had a late BOG ADR and was not allowed in with the masses at 7:45am, but with people saying it has happened and does happen I am second guessing keeping it all together. I wish someone had some recent reports of getting in with this later pre park opening time:confused3

While rope drop effectively occurs before 9 on 9AM open days, it officially happens at 9.

I suspect if anyone is getting held back before an ADR before 9 it is because they show once the opening show has started. If you do that, expect to be held until drop.

Procedures are in flux on days with EMM. I would double check the date and make sure it is not a day with EMM. If it is not you should not have a problem but things can and do change hour to hour with Disney. Most CM's really don't care to take a position that will likely result in some sort of conflict, easier to just let everyone in.

We have an ADR on a Thurs so there is no early entry conflict at all. I had read numerous reports from people saying as long as your ADR was before 9 on a 9am opening they would let you in at 7:45 with everyone else, regardless of your time being 8am or 8:55am. But recently more people have been stating that might not be the case and be prepared if we get there at 7:45 for them to not allow us in until regular RD since the welcome show starts at 8:45. I just don't want to get there at 7:45 and be told no way.

i know!! this is exactly why i posted! LOL right now we have an 8:15 AM reservation at crystal palace. BUT we'll now be on the dining plan--- and i have too many table service credits haha so since BOG is a quick service, i was going to switch to that.... but i don't want to give up my earlier crystal palace time and just take my chances that i'll be able to get into BOG earlier.... Disney problems! :-)

oh AND we'll be there on a Tuesday--- which is when EMM will be going on, if they continue it. so that could mix things up, too. I guess i should probably just stick with my Crystal Palace reservation and cut out a different table service...lol

All depends why you care. If it is a quiet park and picture opportunities 8:00 reservation!! On a day park opens at 9:00. Otherwise not worth it as too many will be entering at once. If park access and also best ride access is your goal Keep trying for 8.00 BOG.. use touringplan.coms table finder perhaps? You apparently dont have to have paid membership to do so. The reason BOG is better is it is early access further back in the park. No wait for mine train after! yes! We picked off most of Fantasyland before the rope drop folks filed in!

I made an 8:40 ADR and will probably plan to arrive about 8 to avoid being held. My strategy of the later time is in hopes that all those trying to get a head start on 7 dwarfs will have cleared out main street and my family and I can just enjoy a quiet leisurely walk.

Not sure when your date is but if it's in the next month, please report back!
