Hi all! I made an 8:15 am breakfast for our next trip. I think I can get there earlier, and eat for around 8. My husband wants to know what's the latest PPO breakfast we can get? His idea was to get a later breakfast - ride mine train and get a rider swap so he and our 4 year old can ride later (we also have a 1 year old who cannot ride) - and then go to breakfast. I realize this would put us late to breakfast. Will his crazy plan work? i say no.

I'm also expecting hours to change in July so this will probably be moot.

Thanks!

Why would you expect the opening hours to change in July? Unless you're talking about July 4th (& maybe even then), they'll probably stick with a 9am opening time.

Never tried what your husband wants to try, but I don't recommend it.

I hope they don't change! i was there once and it changed to 8 - so now i'm just gun shy I guess.
I agree with you about not trying what he wants but I figure I would ask.

Opening hours tend to change during the busiest times, but outside of the July 4th holiday, July is no busier than any other time of year at WDW.

So wait you want a PPO ADR for as late as you can get it yet you also want to RD 7DMT?
Very confused.
Either stick with what you have or make your BOG ADR for later so you can RD 7DMT and then go to eat.
As you've noted hours could change so this is why personally I'd never try for a PPO at MK to begin with.

Not sure if I follow the logic of getting a later PPO breakfast. Except for the prospect of it sometimes opening up a bit early for the PPO folks, 7DMT doesn’t operate before park opening, so riding 7DMT pre-breakfast would not be possible given what you describe.

His logic is to get behind the castle sooner and then get in line before actually going to eat. I told him I did not think that would work.

I would keep your PPO BOG breakfast, and head to SDMT when you are done. Last time we were there (03/17), I think I recall a CM saying that they were letting people with reservations as late as 9:20 through with the PPO breakfast reservations, but I wouldn't try this - the CM seemed annoyed that breakfasts that late were able to get through, and I don't think this is the regular procedures. If it makes you feel better, grab a later BOG breakfast time, and then decide later what you want to do, and drop the reservation that you don't want. But again, my advice is to keep your PPO BOG ADR, and hit SDMT after breakfast. :) I love PPO BOG, and in fact we have 2 8am ADR scheduled for our upcoming trip!

Yeah, that implies you’d be arriving at BOG past, or even well past, your ADR time under most circumstances. Probably not something I’d suggest doing.

thank you for validating what I wanted to do! i'm the planner but I like to take his crazy suggestions in to consideration sometimes

If more than about 15 minutes late to your ADR they will charge you a $10 PP no show fee and give away your ADR.

this is not true. We were a good 30 minutes late to Tusker House PPO in December and it was no big deal.

If they make the reservation for 8:55 am, they will be allowed in with all of the other PPO guests before 8 am. They can then mill around and get in line for 7DMT around 8:20 if they want. You never know when they will actually start opening up the ride though. When I was there in October, they opened it up about 5-10 minutes before 9 am, and when I was then in January -- they didn't open it up until right at 9 am.

The only thing I'm not sure about is if they will give out rider switch tickets that early. I assume they will -- but am not sure.

As far as getting to the breakfast, if the reservation is at 8:55 am, then they should be able to get off the ride by 9:05 pretty easily. I don't see any CM giving them a hard time showing up a little late.

With that said, I'd rather eat breakfast before the rides open so that you're not "wasting" valuable rope drop time eating breakfast. It's much more efficient to eat at 8 am and be out by 8:30 or 8:40 and then get in line. Then you can knock out a good chunk of fantasyland before the crowds build up.

Yes, do not waste the first hour of your park day eating breakfast when everyone else is riding attractions.

That is untrue. We've been later than that for several ADRs over the years with no issue.
And I know people who have been turned away when only 10 minutes late. There really isn't a set rule so it's simply not a good idea to suggest being late will be okay.

Which restaurant were they turned away from? Do you have any details that you can share?
