DH is taking me to Disney for my 50th this August with my DS 23 and DD 9. Next week I have to book my ADRs. Which would you choose for a birthday dinner?

Honestly, I would choose BOG. I really like CRT and try to go often, but I think it would be pretty hard to celebrate a birthday there. We were there in AUgust and it was incredibly loud, and really busy! Now I had two little girls with me so our focus was on the Princesses, but I can tell you that unlike any of my other visits there, it was pretty chaotic.

I think that BOG would be less distracting during a celebration.

I would go with CRT for a birthday celebration. I like both but the castle and atmosphere at CRT is just a little more special in my opinion. They also have the tiara, glass slipper and other special things they'll deliver to your table.

I'm surprised to hear so many other people say that CRT is loud. I didn't notice it at all when we were there and they were at full capacity. I thought BOG was considerably louder due to the size and the banquet hall sized room in the middle (where we sat).

Just personal preference, really. If you ask my mom she'd say BOG because it was her favorite restaurant.

Have you already been to both?

BOG all the way! It was our grown up celebration meal last trip and it was excellent! A nice glass of wine with dinner didn't hurt either LOL

BoG for 50th. Very adult-like party celebration. Great food IMO and wine. And photo with the Beast. Also, remember to have that noted on your reservation.

If younger or child, I would recommend CRT. Celebrated DD 5th birthday and did the Special Princess Birthday Package through Special Event Planning. Included decorated table (confetti & balloon), Princess Cake, Tiara on pillow. Also, purchased the Glass Slipper which we had engraved with personalized messages.

I would recommend BOG. It's definitely a more mature/adult environment. Plus you really can't beat the atmosphere at that restaurant; I recommend requesting the Ballroom.

I think it really depends on what kind of an experience you want. I've been to both BOG and CRT and they are both fun, but in very different ways. I think it largely comes down to whether you want characters (CRT), alcohol (BOG), atmosphere (CRT or BOG, depending on where you're seated), or food (tie).

CRT has princesses at all three meals. At BOG you can meet the Beast at dinner after your meal. He's usually there, but it's not a character meal per se so there is no guarantees that he'll be there that night.

BOG serves wines and beers, which you cannot get at CRT. This isn't something that matters for my family, but if you want a glass of wine to celebrate your birthday, you're only choice in the MK is BOG.

Atmosphere is kind of a mixed bag. At CRT, you're eating inside Cinderella's castle! Everything about it seems to say "Disney" to me. Plus, kids get a toy wand or sword (adults too if you ask) and a wishing star. I haven't noticed it being all that loud (at least not any louder than BOG). BOG can be great or mediocre depending where you're seated. The West Wing is an amazingly themed room and really reminds you of the movie. The Ballroom is okay, but it's so big that it reminds me of eating in a convention center dining hall/banquet room. There are elements that invoke the movie, but not enough to really make me think of the movie when I was dining in there. So, for atmosphere, CRT and BOG are equal if you get the West Wing, otherwise, I think CRT has a stronger "Disney" atmosphere.

In terms of food, I would give BOG the slight edge, but CRT as pretty good too. Neither place really wowed me (I actually liked BOG lunch better than dinner), so they're pretty much on par.

So, in the end, I think it comes down to whether you want to eat in the Castle or whether you're a big fan of Beauty and the Beast. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

What are the choices of the rooms at BOG?
BOG has three different rooms: the West Wing, the Ballroom, and the Rose Gallery/Music Box. When I was there last for dinner, only the West Wing and Ballroom were open during dinner. It's been hit-or-miss whether guests have been allowed to request a specific dining room when checking-in, but most have said that when possible, it does add to the wait time.
