What are the differences between the experience at lunch vs. dinner?

Different menu and the dinner has the Beast (though they don't guarantee it) and lunch does not.

Menu (although desserts mostly the same) so prices much higher at dinner but you can get alcohol.

At dinner they take order at table instead of at kiosk so will add gratuity.

You can meet the Beast after dinner.

Atmosphere we found to be the same; crowded, very loud, folks walking around taking pictures.

Lunch is quick service, and you seat yourself. Your food is brought to your table, but you fetch your own drink and silverware. Dinner is table service, and you are seated by the host/hostess. The menus are different. You can find them online and compare. You can only meet the Beast at dinner.

Really everything but the venue. The menu, prices, experience, and service type is all different.

I always feel much more relaxed at dinner. I can sit there and take in the atmosphere.
At lunch- I am up and down getting drinks, etc.

I don't remember how many days out it is, but when the WDW system decides you are close enough to your trip to pre-order, you will see a link to do so in your My Disney Experience account. You might also receive an email letting you know you can pre-order.

Dinner is a table service meal with a server.

You'll see a link on your reservation on MDE. HIGHLY recommend pre ordering because you walk right in and they have your food to you at the table in about 5 minutes.

Alcohol, different menu (more expensive) lunch is QS, The Beast is there for dinner.
That being said, we preferred the lunch food over the dinner food. We're doing both on our next trip in Sept, but I can honestly say the dinner is just so my girls can meet the beast. Maybe we'll have a better dinner experience this time.

We, too, prefer lunch over dinner because of the food options. The braised pork is exceptional.
