BOG lunch questions

So I made all our ADRs on our 180 day mark....... totally forgetting about BOG! This happened mainly bc for our last trip in 2014, lunch ressies were a FP+

So now I will be stalking BOG, trying to catch an opening for lunch. I've never had to do this before.
When are the best times to check?
What is the cut-off for dropping an ADR w/o your cc being charged? Would that be a good time to try to jump on an ADR that others are forced to give up?
Any other tips?
Pardon my naivety in this... I've never had to stalk for an ADR as I've always been very good about getting all mine on time and we stick to those. This time though, this one just totally fell through the cracks!!

Also, is BOG lunch still considered a CS credit on the DDP?

Yes, right now, BOG is still quick service for lunch.

I cancelled Ohana 1 day before this past Jan fully expecting our CC to be charged but it was not.

I would say just check whenever you think of it. I imagine no time of day is better than any other.

Even if you can't get an ADR, you might luck out at the door. You never know.

Check much closer to your trip and be flexible on time/day and it will likely work out. We typically only book reservations day of and have dined at BoG for lunch several times. Many people change their plans and cancel the day before so thing open up

I've been stalking a BOG lunch for almost two months and just got one at 9 days out from our trip! There is a free Touring Plans ADR finder online too, but I found my reservation myself randomly checking.

LOVE Be Our Guest! Ate lunch there twice. Last time we got an ADR inside of 60 days, just kept checking online every couple of days, and we got one! We were flexible on the exact day and the time, and there were only two of us that trip.

Best times to check, do you mean time of day, or number of days before your trip? We usually looked in the morning. You would think people might make changes 60 and 30 days before, because of FP+. And 45 days before, when you have to pay off your balance? And I imagine the closer you get, the more people are making changes.

Good luck, I hope you get your ADR!

I am looking for an ADR as well, booked one and it isn't going to work, my girls decided 50 days out they want Ohana's. We have never been there. We have a 5:15, I found one day, I think it was right after lunch. We need a later one, so I plan to continue to check or work around this one. I also heard somewhere on this board they open up more reservations 10 days out, hope that is true. I have not found a specific time of day that is better. That being said, we planned our trip 90 days out and I was able to get all top ADR's with a little work, so I would definately not give up.

That is sooo encouraging to hear!! Thanks for posting! Good tip to check more as the day is much closer

Glad you finally got your's after checking for so long. I discovered the touring plans tool and have created a search for each of the 3 days that we *could* do a BOG lunch.

Best time to check meaning how far or close to the trip will most likely to yield results. (thanks for your tips- hadn't thought of those "milestones dates")

Oh wow! Did not know that! Thanks!

Thanks all for the great info!

I'd like to add (for others who might read this thread) .........A friend was over today and his travel agent told him that BOG reserves some tables for walk-ups. She told him to rope-drop MK and go right to BOG and snag a same day ressie.

use the reservation finder at touringplans.com!!! You will get a text when the system finds an available reservation based on your request. But then it is up to you to grab it. I have used it to find so many BOG reservations (dinner and lunch) around 90 days mark. You don't need a subscription to use this tool, but you do need to create a free account. https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finder

EDIT: just read the posts above mine .... didn't see that someone already suggested touring plans. :) well, at least you are on the right track! Don't worry, you will definitely get it!

I've never heard that before! Last time I was there they were turning away everyone without an ADR.

First time hearing it for me too. As a last resort I'd try it tho, just in case it would work.

ETA- my bff (who plans NOTHING in advance and laughs at my planning) told me that several times she and DD walked up to BOG at 10:30-10:45 and were seated immediately

Definitely use the touring plans reservation finder! I just got a text (at 83 days out now!) about at 9/5 4:55pm dinner I was able to snag! Now I give up the breakfast and lunch ressies I've had as I REALLY wanted dinner!
