BOG lunch question

DH and I planned a trip less than 2 months out last year (I found out I was pregnant and we would not be able to go when we'd originally intended as a result). We wanted to eat dinner at BOG. I utilized the cancellations thread and coordinated with another DIS-er to get a reservation.

I've been trying to get a BOG dinner or lunch. I have seen a few pop up just not on the day I need. Keep checking!

When we went in March last year, we walked up at around 2:00 and were able to get in with seven people. I'm not sure if that's typical, but if you're unable to get a reservation by the time you go, definitely try around 2:00 for the best chance.

Alternately, there's also this. I haven't used it yet, but I've seen people recommend it on other ADR threads.

We asked a cast member beforehand and she said that it would be fine; Disney will always try to accommodate you. And considering BoG lunch is open seating, letting 2 people in instead of 1 isn't a big deal. And the crowd level was 9 that day, the reservations were all full. Now if it were a reservation for 1 and there were 5 of you then no I wouldn't expect them to let you in. But it's just 2 of you. They will let you in with a reservation for 1 and I will guarantee you this.

How can you guarantee anything? Are you a BOG Manager?
Your experience is your experience and unique to that day, crowd, situation. You were lucky.
There are many, many contradicting reports here often.

I have personally seen them turn away walk ups and extra guests for lunch ADRs at BOG plus have heard stories of it happening/witnessed by others. There is no way I would risk it and I wouldn't listen to anyone who "guarantees" that you will be okay to do either.

We ate there last week, party of 11. We initially started with just 7 and I had to work up my reservations to include all 11. I created dummy MDE accounts with email addresses I rarely use and I ended up with reservations for 1, 7, 2, 1 within a period of 30 minutes. We figured we would have the later reservations pre-order and the early ones wait in line hoping that the timing would work out. I eventually got us to a reservation for 9 and a reservation for 2, 11:10 and 11:20. While we were waiting for all of our party to arrive at the restaurant the CM overheard me talking about what I did to try to get the reservation and asked me how many total and then used her radio to call down to the restaurant to prepare a table for 11 that would be coming over the bridge soon. Sure enough, we were all able to enter together and when we got in there was a reserved sign on a table for 12. We went to Guest Relations and put in a good word for Ravyn because she really made our meal that much more enjoyable (half of our party was leaving for home right after the meal so it was great to be able to sit together). Anyway, all of that to say try to get another reservation for 1 but then keep trying to change one of the 1's to 2 then cancel the other reservation for 1. It is definitely possible. I did hear the CMs say they were not taking any walk ups for lunch the day we were there.

Also try touring plans reservation finder. They run a check every hour or so (?) - much more often than you would likely be checking, and they'll email you whenever they find availability. I snagged an Akershus dinner just last night because I got an email from touring plans saying it was available! Now I've got them looking for a BOG lunch!

I highly recommend them also. I have gotten BOG breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner reservations using it.

WOW! So I used touring plans reservation finder as suggested by many of you and I got a lunch reservation on the exact day I wanted! What an awesome tool!! Thanks for the tip!!

I have been obsessively checking all week for a lunch res for my trip in just over two weeks-- I checked about 6 times a day. I found one yesterday that was later than I wanted, but I took it and keep checking. Found a better one just a few hours later. Moral of the story--
Just keep checking!!

I know this thread is a little old but thought my experience may help someone. I was able to get a BOG lunch using touring plan's reservation finder yesterday, but realized it was for a party of 2 and I needed 3. Once the reservation was made, I was able to go into mde and modify the reservation and change the 2 to 3....so you can try changing it in the app and ut may work
