BOG-lunch-OMG!!!!

The roast beef sandwich is cold? Ugh! That is the only thing on the menu that my 17 year old will eat. I have been before for breakfast. My daughter and I shared and it was worth it for us. But I know my husband and two teenage boys will not appreciate the atmosphere. I may just cancel our reservation and eat at Cosmic Ray's, they love that place. :)
Sounds like I'm in the minority but I actually prefer a cold beef sandwich. Of course unless we're talking about Chicago style Italian beef.:flower:

I wonder if it's possible to request a warm roast beef sandwich?

The OP was discussing the price versus value not the ambiance.

The value of the food used to be great, but I am fairly sure that the majority of BOG's patrons are in it for the castle and not for its culinary expertise. There are better places to eat on property. But the ambiance is definitely built into the price of the food. That's all I was saying.

I agree. It's always families with children whenever we go. The food is subpar. The atmosphere is wonderful. If you're five.

We generally use the DDP so BOG is a good value for my CS credit. OOP? YIKES!

I have always felt that BOG has an identity crisis, falling somewhere between a CS and a TS restaurant. Pricey food, swell atmosphere, waffling back and forth between CS options and TS prices, but never committing to either category.

I think someone mentioned it earlier, but until they see the crowds stop coming, they will cut corners anyway they can. Shorter prep time, less heat lamps, less staff to monitor and prepare a warm meal, it all saves dollars.

I know Disney food prices are higher then normal but I can't believe they are charging $17 for a roast beef sandwich and fries for lunch. Is there anything special about this sandwich? Is it worth it?

Absolutely not, just Disney pricing because people love the castle!

I guess this statement just confuses me lol.
It IS a CS for breakfast and lunch and it IS a TS for dinner.
That is very clear so I'm not sure why you think it needs to commit to one or the other.

Can you just go for a master cupcake?? I thought if you booked an ADR there it would cost each person a dining credit/entitlement.

You can get whatever you want.
You can pay out of pocket if you're on the dining plan and would just like a cupcake.
Not sure if you could use a snack credit or not.

I'm not sure but being classified as a QS I don't believe they will be open to special orders.

Not sure about the hot/cold part, but they do make special orders--if something is on a sandwich thats not wanted, they will make it without it.

It was really quite delicious and while probably borderline worth that much, I craved this sandwich between trips and made ADRs to go back for lunch really just to have it. Now that it's served cold it's not nearly as good and no, definitely not worth the $17.

I'm with you. I always ask that my sandwich is cold, where ever I am.

In fact, I have been known to send a sandwich back if it is hot.

For me, only grilled cheese (or ham and cheese) should be hot.

(And people, please just accept that I don't like hot sandwiches, don't try to prove me wrong by posting all of the hot sandwiches that you love. Chances are, I simply wouldn't order something like that.)

I pay oop.

But it's my understanding that you can pay oop for any meal, even when using the dining plan? Maybe BOG is different, I don't know.

Was the turkey sandwich warm in the past? I always ordered the braised pork, but last trip mom and I split the turkey, and it was indeed cold (and not that great). The cupcake was still good, though. :)

It seems like I'm definitely not the only one who found this sandwich very disappointing after it was served cold. I wonder if it's worth contacting Disney to suggest they go back to serving it warm. If enough people did maybe they'd change it back.

I don't think it's so much a question of preferring a hot or cold sandwich, but that the quality of the meat they were using was chosen specifically because it was a hot sandwich. Served cold, the meat is tough. If they want to serve it cold, they need to use higher quality beef.
