BOG Lunch- Getting cold feet, need a second opinion

My boyfriend and I (both 29- no kids) are going on a 5 day trip this February... I made all of my ADRs at the 180 day mark. We only have one day dedicated to the MK. I haven't been to BOG and have been wanting to see the inside of it... I jumped on a 1:30pm lunch reservation. On our last trip in 2013 we ate lunch at LTT on our MK day - we enjoyed the meal but it was super chaotic and loud in there. Afterwards I was wishing we took a boat ride to one of the MK resorts and ate at one of those restaurants instead and avoided the craziness of restaurants in the MK at lunch time.

From what I've read it sounds like BOG can be a pretty loud chaotic environment at lunch time as well, and it sounds like the food is kind of hit or miss. I'm contemplating dropping the BOG lunch reservation and switching to lunch at a restaurant at a nearby resort.

I was just hoping for some second opinions on this before I go make any changes. Do you think I should drop BOG and switch to somewhere else at a nearby resort? If so, where? We like all types of food. Also- is it possible to go see the inside of the restaurant without eating in there?

Thanks in advance!

You have to eat there to look around -- it is crowded, but if you sit in the West Wing or the other side room, its much less crazy. The main ballroom is beautiful but feels like a cafeteria at lunch. You pick your seat at lunch, so you could control where you eat.

OP, My husband and I ate there for the first time last year for lunch. We loved the atmosphere in BOG. We ate in the main ballroom and loved it. It was not too noisy at all, and the food was really quite good. We are set to eat there again in Feb. for lunch and are really looking forward to it. I want to try the creepy, dark room next (can't think of the name). Our server was totally into the theme and talked like back in Beauty and the Beast days!!! It was fun. We are not gourmets by any means, but we like good food. I don't go to Disney seeking 5 star meals, and if you are doing that, you are set up to be disappointed (unless you eat at V&A's) :) So, go for it, and decide for yourself!

I had lunch at high noon in the ballroom and didn't find it too noisy or uncomfortable. Seating was plentiful and the meal was one of the best I had at WDW. Id keep the ressie and give it another try.

You do have to eat to get across the bridge. Lunch is BOG's best meal. I think you should try it! 1:30 is later in the lunch period, too.

Otherwise, just get cupcakes then go to a nearby resort for lunch.

I think that BOG is the best CS in the MK. It can be loud, but I think most CS anywhere in the parks are loud. If you have not been inside, I would go for it.

I've been several times and lunch and have enjoyed it. I have eaten in the Rose Gallery and the Ballroom. The Ballroom was just fine--not loud or crowded, but the Rose Gallery was downright relaxing. The atmosphere and food are terrific.

It can be chaotic but it is worth seeing. I would keep the ressie. I agree try to get a seat in the Rose room, which is much smaller and less chaotic.

Personally I would not drop it!
I've been to BOG at lunch 7 times.
I have absolutely loved my food and overall experience every time.
Can it be loud? Sure but that can be said of any restaurant at peak meal hours.
If you want to avoid the most loud area of the restuarant then I'd suggest sitting in the Rose Gallery.

If you never went, you should go at least once. If you like it, you can go back again, if you don't, at least it'll be scratched off your list and you'll never wonder again "if you should go". We went this April and was not impressed but I had always wanted to try it so I'm glad I saw it once. We are going back in November and we won't be going back to BOG.

Noise wise, I really didn't noticed. Found our table quickly in "Rose Room", ate, took pictures and left.

Definitely keep it!

We are an adult couple (40!!) and we hesitated trying BOG until 2 weeks ago due to all the hype and mixed reviews. But as we were planning to be there for the 45th anniversary I got an ADR for lunch and we went with it. Beauty & The Beast is my favorite Disney movie and we figured we should try it once.

We were very happy with our decision. We both really liked our meals (especially the cupcakes which we thought were the best we ever had on Disney property.) and we loved the ambiance. It was loud but it's Disney so it's going to be loud in most places.

It didn't beat out our favorite Columbia Harbor House but when I asked DH if he would come back he said he would so I'd say it was a win for us.

I was just there last week for lunch with a group and everyone really enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. If you like tuna the nicoise salad is excellent. We were there early for lunch (11) but I imagine that going at 1:30 wouldn't be too bad. The main ballroom was very noisy but the two side rooms were quiet and peaceful. You should go. I was skeptical but so glad we did it.

We love BOG, having said that, order food that will wow you. The sandwiches are good, but the braised pork is incredible. Love the spookiness of the west wing, the beauty of the ball room, and the charm of the rose room.

We love it, hasn't been too crazy, but we have been fortunate to get earlier lunch times. The details are incredible, and if you are a BATB fan, a must see (IMO).

It seems that the BOG food is somewhat popular on this board, but I wasn't crazy about it. I've been there for one lunch and one dinner. I also was curious to try this restaurant, but as it turned out, I thought the average cafeteria has better lunch food than what I had at BOG (turkey sandwich, and I like those elsewhere). For MK meals my favorite is now Skipper Canteen. On the monorail line, I also like Kona Café, Contempo Café, The Wave, and 1900 Park Fare. You may end up going to BOG just to see what it looks like, and if this theming really interests you, it may be worth it once for that. There are other places where I like the food much better. YMMV.

We've eaten there 3 times for lunch - twice in the music box room and once in the west wing. The ballroom is the largest, so it is the noisiest. We like the music box room best for a place to eat lunch, unwind, check Facebook, etc.

I am not crazy about BoG (food, noise). But it is definitely worth seeing at least once!

If you do choose to skip it, I recommend Skipper Canteen in MK, or The Wave at the Contemporary. Both have superior food (by far) and a much more relaxing atmosphere.

Keep your reservation for two reasons. 1. You know you really want to get inside and experience this wonderful place just once. 2. The amazingly scrumptious strawberry cupcake is a must!

I would keep it. It is worth it IMO. We loved our lunch, I had the carved turkey sandwich and it was delicious. The main dining room is a bit chaotic and noisy, but you choose your own seat and there are more quiet rooms as others have mentioned. The desserts are wonderful too. It's a nice break from the parks. I would rather eat there than leave and come back, that is too much travel time IMO. It is a must-do for us every trip.

YES! It's a must see and do! :-) We loved our BOG lunch on our last visit and we look forward to it again. We ate in the West Wing and it was a pretty quiet atmosphere in there. We also walked around and looked at the other areas as we were leaving and I was glad that we picked the West Wing area.
