Dd decided to deviate from our plans yesterday and have just the 2 of us go into MK for opening. Sadly, we missed the morning show; but dd didn't care. She had one thing on her mind: riding Splash. The park was extremely quiet. We walked through Adventureland, and everything was a walk on. The poor CM manning the Pirate Kiosk begged us to come get a map, but we were on a mission. We did stop off for PoC -walked right on and only one other family in the boat with us. Most boats empty. Proceeded to Splash, noticing that there was no wait for BTMR either. Walked right on and got quite damp. Around 10:20, we strolled past the BoG queuing area. It only came out to the end of the fence - quite short. We got in line but weren't sure we'd stay as we had dinner reservations for the next evening. It was quite hot but still bearable. Neither dd nor I am good at waiting; so, at 10:30, we were about to leave the line...but it started moving. The little opening show where all the servers come out front passed super fast and the line was moving very quickly, despite the opening time being posted as 11:00. Since dd and I had not had breakfast, we were quite happy with this. Dd was a little disappointed that we didn't get to use a rose, as we were using our Magic Bands to pay. We did have to wait for a family in front of us who could not decide what they wanted (despite having menus in hand while waiting in the queue out front. Placed our order quickly and snagged the last table in the Haunted Room. (One of the CMs had told us that this room is most popular and fills up quickly.) Dd loved the theming!! I did not like the darkness as I cannot see well at all in low light. My croque monsieur was quite good, but the fries were limp and only slightly warm. Dd did not like her pork roast and the sides at all! By the time I tasted hers, everything was cold already. (My sandwich was still quite warm at this point.) Also, the beans and mashed sweet potatoes were pretty bland. The pork was a little fatty, which neither dd nor I can stand. However, she didn't complain, as she loved being here. Besides, I gave her part of my sandwich, as it was more filling than I'd expected. Wish I had pictures, but it was too dark for the little camera we had with us. Trust me that our food looked just like what we had seen in the photos of others on here. Cancelled our dinner reservation as we left, since I knew the boys cared more about the quality of the food over the theming. Trust me that our food looked just like what we had seen in the photos of others on here.

It doesn't seem like there are any fail-safe things to order here. I was thinking of lunch, but I wouldn't do dinner, based on reviews.

We ate at BOG on October 16. We had a fast pass for lunch and got right in. First let me say we are not picky eaters and can find something good about a meal anywhere we eat. However the food for lunch at BOG was the worse meal we have ever had not only in a Disney but anywhere. The castle is nice but it is so crowed you can't really enjoy it. We were unable to find a clean table and to go find someone to clean one. I realize it is considered a counter service, but there were cast members with carts cleaning the tables. Was it worth a dining credit to see the inside of the castle? Yes! Will we go back for lunch ever again? NO!

Most posters seem to be :thumbsup2 for the castle

:sad2: for the food.

I guess I can count myself lucky....we had turkey and roast beef sandwiches there and my daughter had the quinoa salad....we were all pleased. We wanted to eat in the west wing and there were several tables to choose from.

We ate dinner there one night and since we had a big lunch we had soup, salad, and dessert. This was done intentionally because I do think their dinner menu is limited and pricey. anyhow, for soup and salad was pricey but I am glad we did it one night because the castle with the beast is more magical at night.
