ADR opened today and I was only able to snag ADR for a late lunch (2:30) or breakfast at 9:15 so I booked both and figured out I would decide this week. We aren't big "foodies" and are more into the experience than the food so while i'm sure dinner is amazing (and was my first choice) we don't mind which meal (and any extra savings that we can splurge someplace else).

As having never been, I've looked at the menus and have a few questions:
  • Which meal will feel less rushed / hectic?
  • My 15 year old son is a very picky eater and looking at the breakfast menu, will really only eat scrambled eggs and fruit. This is on the kids menu. It kills me to spend $24 for eggs and fruit. What are your thoughts?
  • On the lunch perspective- he will only eat the turkey sandwich - ONLY if it is turkey and cheese and nothing else. Where it is QS and you can preorder via MDE, can this be accommodated? (he also has food allergies which is why he is so picky)
  • Breakfast is $24/adult - and it's 2 adults 2 teens so $100. Is it worth the cost? With QS the kids would most likely split a sandwich, I'd get a soup and DH would get a sandwich of which I'd have a piece. Probably $40 less (which ultimately I'll end up spending somewhere else). Would the experience of being there be any different?
Thanks in advance!

I’d probably go with lunch. We did both and both meals were good. But, breakfast is very pricey (we were ondining plan so didn’t care). And, you’d be taking up prime park touring time with that breakfast. We had a PPO breakfast so didn’t care.

Ooh... forgot about PPO... and 9ish was the earliest they had. (teens are not super early risers)

Go with lunch. You have much more flexibility in what you can eat. I know you can preorder the croquet monsieur without the bechemel, because I did it, so it's probably possible to order the turkey just plain as well. When you get into your preorder timeframe, you'll know for sure, so you could wait until then to decide which one to keep.

Oh, as to breakfast, you can order as much or as little as you want and you can order the kid's meal (and pay the kid's price) for your son.

Lunch, your 2:30 ADR is one of the last, before the restaurant close to prepare for dinner, the place won’t be busy.

You can order the turkey sandwich plain or however you want it, because I've done this. When your pre-order opens there will be an option to check what you want or don't want on the sandwich, I can t remember excatally how it was because it was years ago, but you can personalize it.

I have never done breakfast there, but really enjoy lunch, was just there last week around 12:30pm. Pre-ordering is easy, and when you check in they go over the options again, so you can always double check modifications. Meals are definitely shareable if you are not big eaters. Usually we eat in the rose gallery, because there is always plenty of seating and it tends to be the most relaxing of the 3.

I would go with lunch. It is very relaxing during the middle of a Magic Kingdom Day. I will say that you can make modifications to the sandwiches. However, they will not add cheese to the turkey sandwich. ( I have no idea why) I was last there December 2017 and its not an option in their register or for pre-ordering. Definitely keep that in mind is cheese is very important.

Lunch is a better value if you're paying OOP, IMO. I think I may slightly prefer the food at breakfast, but lunch is really good too! We had a very leisurely lunch and never felt rushed.

I would cancel breakfast. We've done it a couple of times, but IMO lunch is a million times better. And I've also never felt rushed when dining there. I like to sit in the ballroom against the wall facing the windows. It is a beautiful restaurant.

Do lunch, I feel like it's the better value. As for the cheese on the kids turkey, I doubt you'll be able to add it during the pre order online but when you get there it doesn't hurt to ask. We've put cheese on other sandwiches that don't have cheese as an option. They'll have to call back to the kitchen to see if we can do it/to add it. So depending on who is working the order stations or the preorder/register area they may not want to call and just say they can't do it. We do modifications all the time that aren't normal options so I can't see why they would say they can't add cheese to a kids turkey sandwich. But don't quote me as saying they'll do it.

Have not done the breakfast, but have not read great reports about it. We have done lunch and it was ok. But I think BoG is about the atmosphere and not so much the food (unfortunately). Based on price for breakfast or lunch, lunch looks like a clear winner.
