BoG - BiG Disappointment

After 3 months of trying, we finally managed to get an ADR for BoG. We had dinner tonight at 5:10pm and were seated very quickly and promptly. The decor is pretty amazing, but it is loud, dark, and very rushed.

We had moderate expectations about the food, but both of us enjoyed the French Onion soup. We ordered the lamb and steak, both medium rare. Received the entree moments after finishing the soup but didn't have steak knives to cut our food. When we finally were able to eat, the lamb was warm but RAW, and the steak was med rare, but cold. I had to use my flashlight app to double check the temps. Waiter took them back and they put them back on the grill. Lamb came back warm, med rare and ok. Steak came back warm, but DP didn't care for it.

Dessert case came by almost immediately after we finished the entrees and we had to try the grey stuff and the triple chocolate cupcake. Both delicious!

We had a bottle of wine with dinner, and even with sending the food back, we were in and out in about 1 hour. I think most were in and out in 30-40 minutes.

I am not sure why there were such long waits and lack of ADRs. We explored after dinner and there were quite a few open tables in the ballroom and the other two rooms only had a couple of tables occupied in each.

Pretty expensive meal, even with TiW, for decent appetizer and dessert, and horrible entrees.

We might try lunch sometime, but we won't go back for dinner.

Yeah, that's pretty bad, surprised they tried to serve that to you.

We went for dinner our last trip, BOG is definitely not on our list of places to eat anymore.

We were there the week it opened, "officially" and we loved the decor but the food was average at best. It was good to do once but its not on our must do again list. The problem with the Magic Kingdom is that non of he sit down restaurants are on the must do list.

After reading all the reviews, I'm so glad I wasn't able to get a dinner ADR on our trip in August! We did get a FP for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. We all enjoyed our food. Roast beef sandwich, tuna salad, turkey sandwiches were all quite good. But that's comparing it to other CS meals. I think for a CS meal, it's great. Real dishes and silverware, great atmosphere, food brought out on the carts, good food quality. But I guess I have a bit higher expectations for a TS meal and this definitely wouldn't fit the bill!

Sorry OP didn't enjoy their meal. That lamb looks delicious but I prefer meat very rare lol
We had a wonderful meal in May from food to service and are very much looking forward to another dinner in Nov.

I skipped a canceled a dinner ADR at BOG after I got a lunch FP from my resort. The dinner menu did not appeal to me. Lunch was great. I only post my reviews on TripAdvisor, but I'm not surprised by yours.

We ate at BOG in March, 2013 and it was the best meal of our 10 day trip! Kids(11 and 7) loved the options. My son and daughter both had steak, my wife had the pork and I had the lobster/bread bowl (forget the name). Had great service, were not rushed, love the decor and the pastries were great. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

My Family and I ate at BOG for dinner July 14th. The food was fabulous and the service was very good, we had 5:30pm reservations.

I have to say, some people think it should be served that way. I once had dinner at my bf's (his mother was a gourmet cook) and she served it that way. Everyone else loved it but I couldn't eat it, it was just too raw. I still remember it after decades!

I wish we were in and out in an hour when we went to BOG. We had a 5:30 ADR and it was 8:00 before we were done. The service wasn't great, but we enjoyed the food. I do think that for the price your steak should come with a potato instead of french fries.

My DS and I ate dinner there on our early June trip; average at best. We split the steak and it was not very good. I see pictures of the steak and it looks fabulous - but it just wasn't for us. Lunch was okay, but it's not on my gotta eat there radar anymore. And I'm actually glad of that!

I doubt it will ever happen, but I wonder if BoG would be better served as a full time CS eatery. Reviews on lunch, overall, seem to be better than dinner. Its already set up as possibly the best CS location in MK, maybe all the parks and by not having the hard close at 2:30 to prepare for dinner might lessen some of the lines for lunch. I imagine they make more profit on dinner, but some of that would be made up by moving more people thru. I haven't had the dinner yet, but lunch was pretty impressive.

The fries (frites) are not Disney cheaping out. It is very common to have frites with steak (and other upscale meals) in France.

They are just following through with the theme.

As far as the pic of the lamb goes, it looks like a lovely rare piece of lamb, which is really how it's supposed to be eaten if it's done right.

We ate at BOG for dinner on 9/13. Our ressie was for 6:50 and it was a MNSSHP night, so the restaurant was not busy, and we were able to enjoy a leisurely dinner before getting escorted out of the park directly from the restaurant (speaking of...they kind of make you feel like you are criminals when they are ushering you out, lol).

Anyway, our server was great! Very friendly, and he took a lot of time at our table. Our food was good. Not great (like Jiko), but good. The leek and potato soup was very good. My husband's lamb was also good (nice and rare, lol). My shrimp puff thing was ok. It was lacking in seasoning, IMO. Dessert was fine. The seasonal cupcake (apple with a witch's hat on it) was dry. The chocolate one was better. We thought the wine list was great! We had a nice bottle of Loire Sancerre (sauvignon blanc) for about $60. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. It certainly wasn't the best meal we had on our trip, but it was good. It's nice to have another TS option at MK. And the setting was stunning, of course. My DD was in heaven.

We also did lunch at BOG on 9/20. It was great! I enjoyed my Croque Monsieur, and my husband's tuna salad was wonderful. My kids enjoyed the Mickey Meatloaf. Really good CS location.

Sorry you did not have a better experience at BOG. I've eaten there three times now -- December, June and August, and our food has been outstanding each time. The first two visits the service was outstanding; las tmonth it was very, very slow.
