BOG better with lunch ressies versus fast pass?

Hello!

Just trying to wrap my brain around this... Last year, we couldn't get fast passes for lunch at BOG (I tried to book one for the 8th day of our trip, silly me!) and got SUPER lucky with a walk-up in the middle of a monsoon. It was the highlight meal and experience of our trip.

So... just making sure I "get" the changes with the reservations for lunch... I will now be able to make an online reservation (assuming there is availability) for lunch, at my 180 day mark? Has this made things better for people because the lunch time fast pass was such a nightmare, or is it now virtually impossible to get a reservation? Do they still allow walk-ups, and if so, what are the odds of that happening (short of another monsoon)?

Anything I need to know about making this reservation? Making a ressie for a counter-service is counter-intuitive to me, so I am duly suspicious... :confused3

Any help you can give so that I don't mess this up this year, would be really appreciated. I can't risk the chance of my kids not being able to fight over which room we will eat in. :rotfl:The West Wing is scary you know!

Thanks so much!

You can book at the 180 day mark, and I don't believe they are allowing walk-ups. My 180 days is on Monday and I've been checking the furthest date possible and can't find any reservations for lunch or dinner. But some people have had luck at the 45 day mark when people cancel their trips. I would try and make that reservation first before the others.

Just checked for 11/14 (my 10th day of my trip) and a 10:30am adr is showing for lunch. That would not be my ideal lunch time! That is still breakfast time to us! I have to imagine it is a lot better with adrs for lunch so people don't have to sit outside in the hot sun waiting in line. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were not accepting walk-ups as the restaurant gets booked pretty fast as it is. People do cancel all the time though, so as it gets closer to the date you want to go, there should be openings.

Are you staying onsite? If so, I would try for the latest day you plan to go to MK first (assuming it is not more than 10 days past 180). I was able to book a lunch reservation at 180+6 at a decent time for a group of six. I had a family member who was able to book a dinner reservation for 180+4 at a time that we really do not want and for only half of our group, on a day we currently do not plan to go to the parks. So needless to say we are still looking for a better dinner reservation.

I would just make BOG lunch the first thing you try to get.

Good luck!

Try to make your reservation as soon as possible, but even at your 180 mark it might not be available. Just keep checking back on a regular basis for cancellations. It seems like there is usually a better chance of snagging a cancellation as the date gets closer.

Short of a hurricane, getting in without a reservation for lunch or dinner is probably not going to happen : / Good luck!
