I did it once. It was VERY uncomfortable and I didn't notice any change whatsoever.

Well I had one but it wasnt the most professional setting My old friend from elementary school is now a massage therapist. She is a colorful individual (think Phoebe from friends) and so I have always declined her services, but she was dead set on giving me a body wrap for my wedding. So reluctantly I agreed.

The experience for me was I am sure nothing like what you would have. Her 1 year old daughter was trying to 'help' wrap me the whole time. DH was sitting there trying not to laugh (in the living room of this girls apt) while I stand there in my underwear. She started at my feet, wrapping up, commenting along the way about my body, and 'whow, almost touched something there' etc etc. I was beyond mortified and horribly self concious

Then I had to sit there for awhile all wrapped up, i got lightheaded which was not suppose to happen, she said she must have done it too tightly. So she let me out early. I did lose a little, they add up a bunch of measurements to come up with the 'total' inches lost. Mine was supposed to be a fair amount (cant remember exactly), but I honestly didnt notice a difference, nor did my dress seem any slimmer.

Anyway, sorry probably not a very great review of the experience! But I just thought I would share my story. Now I am pregnant and she wants to give me prenatal massages. NO THANKS!!

My SIL had one on a cruise a few years back. (Note: It was free! Get aboard early and lie out by the pool - the spa looks for guinea pigs.)

She temporarily lost some inches, but it was water loss and quickly came back.

It depends on the wrap. Some are meant to detoxify, some are meant to stimulate collagen and elasten. Those will give you a very temporary slimming effect, but they aren't really meant to slim you down.

I've never had a weight loss wrap though, if that's what you're asking about.

I know it's not a permanent weight loss thing. I'd really like to detoxify mostly.

Weight loss or detoxifying, all your doing is sweating. You can get the same results by dressing in sweatpants, and sweatshirt and running around the block or riding an exercise bike. I played sports for many years and worked out a lot. After a good workout on the treadmill and the exercise bike I would shower and put my clothes back on and immediatly feel that they were looser. This was loss of fluids and once I rehydrated the weight and inches came back. Whatever your reason for doing it, don't pay someone to do what you can do yourself for free.

I had never heard of a body wrap until DH, who's in the military, started talking about it. Apparantly guys do it to make their weigh in/body fat testing for basic, promotions, etc. The military is strict about where you have to be body fat wise. Good thing he also dieted and exercised his tush off, because the wraps did nothing but drain our pocket book. He actually had 2 wraps in a row and they told him he lost 2 inches around his waist...yet when I taped him at home he was the same as before?! His skin is baby soft though .

My favorite are seaweed or algae wraps. I think as part of a detox, they are amazing. I see the most visable change in skin tone with algae, and feel better for days.
