Body size limits

I understand that some people think if there is a body size limit on Expedition Everest, this would be a great opportunity to lose weight. I agree, but I'd appreciate if it those posters could refrain from commenting on that issue here.

My question is only if people think that EE will be a ride that overweight guests cannot ride? We have never had problems on ANY other ride in WDW in 5 trips (and we ride all the thrill rides), so this was a surprise. We'd love it if we can continue to enjoy all rides without feeling ashamed if we don't fit.

Thanks in advance. Again, not trying to be PC or exclude anyone, but I'm hoping for a friendly thread without debates.

Hi donaldsgal! There are a few attractions (one at IoA comes to mind specifically) that indicate certain body size may not fit the restraints but the impression I have had from posts on the boards is, most people do fit even if they are not Tinkerbelle sized. Other posts seem to indicate it depends on where you are larger (apple shaped or pear shaped! ) and the restraint system being used for the attraction.

I would think until we know what the restraint system requirements are it will be hard to say who will and who won't fit (though someone here probably already knows!). Perhaps there will be a 'sample seat' as there are at some attractions so that guests will know ahead of time if the fit will be comfortable for them.

Many rides post that same disclaimer as a just in case type of thing. I know it can be seen at M:S as well as a few other WDW attractions. I wouldn't worry. If you can ride BTMRR then you will be able to ride E:E with no problem.

the subject interests me, too. I am a 'blob' shape & have never had any trouble fitting into any of the rides, but heard that rumour on the UK board, so it gave me pause. Or if that info is posted near the EE, perhaps it's just a gentle heads up?
here's hoping that the thread stays informative & courteous.
Unfortunately, it seems any mention of large size gives some pips a whole free reign to 'fat' slam or preach & it is just so tedious!

Well the sign certainly indicates that some people might have a problem, but if you've never had a problem on anything else, chances are you won't have a problem on EE. I guess time will tell when we begin to get actual reports. Hope you have a great time!

I'm a large mammal (about 6'2" and 300lbs) and I am making a special trip down just for the DVC preview. I have no problem fitting into (sounds funny) any attraction in Disney World, including things like M:S, RNR, ToT, BTM, SM, etc. so I don't believe that I will have any problem here.

In looking as some of the pictures of the EE ride vehicles, it would appear that you sit side by side (like on BTM) but that each riders has a lap bar of their own. That should make it much easier for myself and my daughter (much smaller then me) to be comfortable.

Have a great time and don't give it a second thought. Disney has done quite a bit to ensure that their larger mammal guests have no problems.

Wonder what the legroom (or lack thereof) will be like? I have long legs, and am always cramped in BTMR, and certianly couldn't squeeze myself into the new ride vehicles on Space Mountain at DL this past Sept. I don't want to have to bypass this one when I visit in 08, if I have to sit alone, sideways, lol, I am not missing that!

I would not worry. I never rode The Mummy at Universal Studios because the sample seats say something about seeing a green arrow (if you pull down the restraint bar and don't see the green arrow, you won't fit on the actualy ride - and I couldn't see the green arrow ever )
But in California, I figured I'd suck it up. I told the Greeter and then the Loader that I didn't know if I'd fit but that if I didn't, no problem - since it's kinda hard to hide the fact that one is Pooh-, Baloo- or larger-sized. The Loader looked at me and correctly stated that there wouldn't be a problem. He was, of course, correct!

I wouldn't say I am tinkerbell sized but I am somewhat "petite", and I have problems on being squished on Mummy. I have never noticed others having any problem in Disney. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I doubt you'll have a problem. I think that in these litinginous days, Disney's legal department makes them prepare for any eventuality. I mean, I could see a person not being able to adequately bring down the lap bar for safety due to a large lap and then getting upset and sueing Disney because they weren't informed that it was a possibilty.

PS-I am not, nor have I ever been, known as petite, nor is my DH, so I am certainly not slamming heavyset people at all.

As I am small sized it's not a big deal for me but I think Disney tries to keep for EVERYONE and that included rides as well

After all How is Mickey Mouse going to ride it on opening day if he can't fit.

I am certainly not or would I ever slam someone for being pooh sized I was referring to the Mummy being very tight for a short person, I sat next to a tall guy on the ride and he couldn't move. Sorry if I was mis understood!!

Have any of you larger sized folks (over 250) ever gone on the Segway tour? I know it says 250 limit, but I wanted to know if anyone went anyway. Hubby is about 270, and I was hoping he could get on anyway.

For his own safety he should not try to 'sneak' his way into the tour. Not only could it cause embarrassment on his part when he is turned away, but you could also lose your payment as you would be beyond the cancellation date. Disney sets their restrictions for a reason and it would be unwise to try to route around those restrictions.

My entire family are big Roller Coaster Fans (I am the Disney Nut!)

The sign's warning is common at amost all parks (that way you can't demand your money back if you don't fit.

Coasters with simialr bars are often hard fits for very tall people or people who are wide in the upper leg/rear. The other challange may be if there is a seatbelt that must fasten after the bar is down (may Intamin coasters have that type of restraint).

In October DS and I were riding Primeval Whirl. The CMs tried to seat another guest with us. He was a pretty big guy, and the bar would not fit properly so he was unable to ride.

The only look I have had at the EE ride vehicles was the little peek from the Christmas parade on TV, but they don't look unusually small.

I am average size, but I feel squished in the tea cups because of the thing in the center - no legroom!

I don't think anyone should worry just yet. I would imagine the vast majority of guests will be able to ride EE without a problem.

Did anyone ride the DCA ride inside the orange? I seem to remember it had a weight limit. I don't remember what the limit was, my friends didn't want to go anyway since it was not exciting. The only size issue I've ever had with a ride was on Ripsaw Falls at Universal. Apparently if you are 6'0 you shouldn't ride in the first seat. I couldn't get my legs out because they were too long and I couldn't bend my legs to get out properly. It took a bit longer, but I did make it out before they had to stop the ride. The CM at the bottom said, "They should have never put you in first, you are way too tall."
