Bodies: The Exhibition...has anyone been to it?

I just might be  that day. :teeth: Seriously, it sounds interesting, but I'm not sure.

My sister-in-law went to see it. She found it fascinating. She thought it would make her a little sick to her stomach, but it didn't.

Dh, ds (20 months) and I went to see it. DH and I thought it was very interesting. DS had no clue, he was just pointing at things. Some people had a problem with the baby section though. I didn't mind it. The way the have everything set up is very nice. Very educational and fascinating. I thought it was worth the $20 bucks for each of us (ds was free of course).

I saw it here in Philly. Frankly, I was bored. I can see how people could like it, though :thumbsup2

Not the same one, but I've been to Body Worlds, which is similar. It was very interesting. While we knew the bodies were real, we nearly forgot about it going through the exhibit. It was so interesting to see the parts of the body presented so clearly, that we didn't dwell on the "eww" factor at all.

But then again, I worked with cadavers in college, and the plastinated bodies are nothing compared to them!

Would love to go see this - too bad I live in nowheresville (too far from a showing to visit). :)

Body Worlds is here in Denver right now. I am going to go see it before it leaves for sure!

YES! It is fantastic! :thumbsup2 I dragged everyone I could to see it, including the kids.

Saw it 5 times, got a magnet, filled out the forms to donate my body.

There are some who find it offensive (of course), but I adored it!

Can not recommend it highly enough! (But if you're already familiar with A&P, you can skip the little headphone thing.)

I saw Body Worlds here in Chicago a couple of months ago and found it absolutely fascinating.

You do tend to forget that those were actual people at one time. There were only a couple of things that really bothered me. One was where a skeleton was holding all of it's own skin over it's arm like he was holding a coat. They "skinned" the person all in one big piece, which was a little  There was also an 8-months pregnant woman with the baby still inside of her which was a little tough to take.

All in all, it was definitely a worthwhile exhibit and I would recommend it. Even my kids loved it, and they are 16, 13 and 10.

We thought it was great. My almost 11 yo begged me to go and I reluctantly took her and she was fascinated. I was reluctant about the baby room but that too was fascinating eventhough it was sad. There was a whole group of med students there with us taking notes.

So where did they get all these bodies and the permission to display them? (Genuine curiosity).

I've seen the inside of a gross anatomy lab. That one visit many years ago was probably enough for me.

DM, DD, DS and I went to Body Worlds a few weeks ago. DD (9) thought it was interesting, DS (6) was bored, I thought it was neat, my DM (RN 40+years) thought it was ok but over priced. We skipped the baby room.
The people who are on display have donated their bodies to science, there was a banner that explained it all but DS was booorreedd so I could not really read it very well :rolleyes2 .

I don't remember where they first got them, if they told (I got the video, too.) But you can pick up a thing there to donate yourself. And then you send it in and they send you paperwork, which explains the rest of the procedure. If you are Super-Interested, I can dig it out of my Drawer of Crap for you! :)

I loved Anatomy. Couldn't get enough. Bones, brains, hearts, tracheas...whatever! The cadaver we used was all ripped to shreads by the time we got to it, which kinda stunk. But I've never been more fascinated by anything than the human body. If you ever hear of a good teacher, take an A&P class!!!!!
