Bodies found in house mummified after THREE YEARS?!

OK, this was just on the local news. I just don't see how it could happen.

A man realized he hadn't seen his neighbors in about 3 years, so he went into their house to check on them. The mummified bodies of a man, a woman, and a German Shepherd were found. The calender was dated 1999, and rotten food dated 1999 was in the fridge. They left a note saying they wanted to go to heaven!

How the heck? They must have canceled all of their accounts, or it seems like someone would have come looking for some owed money. The yard wasn't being kept up. The neighbor said they also had a house in Germany, and he thought they had moved back there.

This happened in Lehigh FL.

That is absurdly horrible. If I don't see my immediate neighbors in two days time I'll call to see how they're doing. 3 YEARS???

We just had something similiar happen in northern IN. But in this case a neighbor had called police and asked that they check on his neighbors but they did nothing for about 4 months. A postal worker called police to do a welfare check and they found the first body then requested a warrant and found the second body.
