I'm a Penn State fan, but very sad to see another classy, old-time coach leave. First Lou Holtz, now Bobby Bowden. NOT looking forward to Joe going - AT ALL!

The day Joe Pa leaves will be a sad one. I have always been a fan of FSU and Bobby Bowden. He's such a classy man and truly left his mark on the greatest sport of all...NCAA football!

DH and DS were there! They took lots of pics and video. Said it was the best game they ever went to, and they have been to a lot! I can't wait until they get home to see/hear all about it. I about lost it when Chief Osceola handed Bobby the spear!

Oh my gosh.. you just made me all teary again. PLEASE post your pictures when you can. I've been fortunate to experience some pretty awesome sports moments, but actually being able to be at that game would have been one of those ultimate moments. When Bobby took the spear, the tears couldn't be stopped here!

DD and I should have gone, in retrospect! I am an FSU alumna and have been through the highs and lows. DH went to Bobby's and FSU's first Bowl game when he was a kid! It was in Orlando. Only fitting that DH goes to Bobby's last Bowl.

Yes, I had to get control of myself when Bobby had the spear.

I just wish CBS had better coverage of the after-game. The Microphone was a mess and they cut off too soon. DS said they carried him halfway off the field. Such a big mob around they had to put him down! I imagine youtube may soon show some of this. DS may put some video up too.

A great and a sad day. Glad the boys rose up and played above themselves today for the upset win to send him off the right way. He deserved to go out with a win. Great coach, great man. The world needs more Bobby Bowden's.

"we are marshall!"....the whole program...was saved....by
special people pulling together. bobby b. was the w.v.u.
coach.....giving them significant support. & his lil'tribute
...placing....green crosses..on the west virgina players helmets..,
was felt all the wall to huntington! thank you, mr. b.

how..do i know?..i was @ their first game...as our whole high school
team...because...some of our teammates were the freshmen
playing, including scoring the wining td. [ i can remember where i was,
when their plane crashed.., very, very sad. ]

..* on a side..note; i just wish....those 2 players...that scored the
winning td....lived long enough..to have seen the movie.

i like college football....for it's potential in getting communities together
& forgetting individual faults.

....because i was first in the military, i started my medical career @
gatorland, fla.. i had friends @ fla. state, & miami. all 3 teams, didn't
win 5 games together, [ but it made it easy..getting in the games.]
but ...that all changed...when bobby b. came to fla. state !

if i had..a vote.....i like to see the gators..."honor"..those students
that were killed by that awful serial killer. [ one was gator player].

&..in my ways..of thinking....tim t. has set new, better examples
..for players..& urban respect..toward the old coaches....is very
good for the game.

...i saw..that "piece"..on the "u" of miami. just my opinion, but i think...
some of their image..have taken..a bad rap. [ i guess it's depends on the
type of measuring stick?}...focusing on all the benefits..of giving youth
...a positive way/s to achieve recognition..instead..of joining a gang.

..also .....very insightful, when i heard..the one player..talked about
how the "u"....built new buildings...but the players couldn't even
afford..diapers! [ the ways college football does it money thing...
should also be benefitiing...the players, better? ]

now, if i had a miami vote..suggest the "u"...."honor" their all-american
safety...who was tragically killed..,"sean taylor". he was trying to
help..the miami youth....that cost him ...his life.

however, one of the most impressive network...that is doing college
sports right..is the big~ten network. i like to see every conference
showing off their highlights... from all their schools , especially focusing
on the students.

...joe paterno.....i hope he never retires...a legend.
[when the tide's bear retired....he passed away....before the next
season. ] they should keep bobby..in the "program."

so sorry , for thundering off....the main topic. * there's one in every
herd.... , ps..i think marshall won their bowl too!


....finally....it i was in charge...of fla state...me thinks, a statue of
bobby...."planting"..the spear....would be great....to see outside
their stadium.., heck..i would even buy the tee~shirt.

Great coach. Correct me if I am wrong but Bobby B. didn't really coach much this year. Saw him at the Wake Forest game and he never wore a head set and stood talking to security most of the game. I noticed the same thing yesterday. Did FSU already name a replacement coach and he was doing the coaching this year?

Jimbo Fisher has been offensive coordinator and QB coach since 07 and is the new head coach.

I think DH teared up watching Bobby's last game, he has loved FSU since he was very young- even though we live in Maryland, and he doesn't even know anybody that went there. It has always been "his" team- and he said Bobby was the only coach of FSU he ever knew.

You do realize most head coaches delegate, they don't micromanage every aspect unless they have to. That is what assistant coaches are for. Many head coaches don't wear headphones. They lead! I don't think this thread was meant to slam BB.

Bobby Bowden is a legend. A wonderful man who will be missed by many.

I know you will all disagree with me, but I am so glad he's done and everyone can stop talking about him. The news has been dominated by Bobby all year and I'm glad it's over now. You would think FSU doesn't exist as a University at all but only as a football program. Bobby sure has looked the other way over the years when his boys have broken the law or acted irresponsibly. If they were talented, that was all that mattered.
